The R.I.P. Thread

One of those celebrities very much of their time. There's not much call for ripping up telephone directories these days and the world is all the poorer for it.

I had this. It's one of the worst games I have ever played

When I was young, he was at an indoor Athletics meeting at RAF Cosford. Along with a few other kids, I tried to get his autograph (after his event had finished). He was one of the rudest, most ignorant athletes I ever came across. Everyone else signed, and he refused. His image in the media was of a genial giant of a man. My experience of him was far from it.

The only athlete I have ever met is Kriss Akabusi. I am pleased to say he was just as amazing in person as you would hope he would be.

Thought he'd died years ago and would have thought he was older than that too
He played Tarzan in the 1960s TV series. It wasn't a reference to his age. He was 84 years old.

For me, the Wiessmuller films were the best tarzan films. I must stress this was from watching them on the box on Saturday mornings in the seventies rather than when they first were released!
Yeah me too, his films were good but it was good to have Ely's weekly TV show also.
