As Wolves fans, I would have thought we would all be used to the idea that pretty possession etc does not football matches win.

You stated England barely created anything which is a load of rubbish as I pointed out. Love the way people dismiss a penalty as not being a chance like it’s some sort of charity.
The usual mantra when England are involved in tight games if we win “ you were lucky” or “ the opposition weren’t great” example England 2-0 Germany last year.
If we lose it’s “the other team were better” ie last night

It was maybe 55-45 in England's favour. So a game of fine margins that came down to fine margins. I'd say it was similar to when we lost 2-1 at home to Liverpool in January 2020.

You wouldn't say Liverpool absolutely robbed the victory and you wouldn't say Wolves came up obviously short.

Not at all - I was simply saying that in my opinion, France created the better chances from open play, and they certainly put theirs away better. Whilst both England penalties were clearly the correct decision to be given, the fact that they were given skews the xG compared with open play chances.

England certainly were not outclassed, just were a close second best on the night to one of the best teams in the tournament. There's no shame in that.

A draw would have probably been a fair result. If Kane scores that penalty then I don’t think too many people could have complained if it had gone to extra time and penalties.

I bet Kane never skies another one like that for the rest of his career.

Everyone seems to have forgotten about Bellingham‘a brilliant volley just after half time, where Lloris was forced to make a superb save.

We had plenty of chances. I don’t really remember France creating anything and they’ll go on to win the whole tournament now.

Because, you know, that's how judging two sides often works. I'm also finding it odd that you're focussing on this when I also said that the two penalties were correctly given.

Neither England penalty prevented a good quality open play chance.

So, I ask again, were Portugal the better side against Morocco because all the statistics other than the most important suggest they were.

Weirdly that was his second pen of the game too after scoring the first.

Very easy to say now but Lloris was always likely to go the same way, it was prime to just bang it down the middle like Lineker did vs Cameroon in 1990. But hey, these things happen.

With the Euros only 18 months away I think we're in a decent enough shape and wouldn't be looking to change the manager.

Is decision making not part of football especially defending? In that moment Hernandez makes a poor choice and deservedly conceded a penalty. Doubt he did because he fancied playing another 30 minutes.

Rabiot should have scored right after we equalised and the defence oddly parted like the Red Sea.

Pickford saved well from Giroud but he'll probably feel he should have scored.

Mbappé had one that you would certainly expect him to get at least on target and he put it well over.

They did have chances, as a team like that always will.
