The Official FIFA World Cup 2022 Megathread

From my Brisbane experience (admittedly different cultural make up in Sydney or especially Melbourne) the interest seems to go Broncos (NRL), Queensland Maroons State of Origin , Lions (AFL), Queensland Reds (Union) and then the Roar behind that. It’s not to say that it doesn’t get decent crowds though.
Soccer in Australia was traditionally most popular in Victoria as that state fitted into Tikkaspecial's demograph

Which teams unexpectedly going home early?
Seems to me a lot of people outside the U.K. think England are on the first plane home.
I think Portugal may have a struggle.

Talk to the Spanish they think England are a good shout to win it.

Any idea why ITV have Spain as ESP rather than SPA? Can't think of any other countries they do that for?

Standard stuff, they're ESP in the Olympics etc as well, never SPA

Yes, good goal. I don't think anyone doubts the ability tbf, they're just laughably imbalanced in terms of what's available. They still put Morata in squads because there literally isn't anyone else.

Yeah striker wise they are really short hence them playing without one.

Full backs are my concern for them mainly, and be interesting how he manages Busquets as no way he can play every game (and he's no longer at this best anyway).

Despite all that, I think Enrique is largely doing quite a good job and making them a bit more direct in attack.

Costa Rica are at low ebb. This shouldn’t be an issue for the Spanish whatsoever.

Yeah Costa Rica are a bit pants. Spain v Germany on Sunday should be fun anyway!
