The Official FIFA World Cup 2022 Megathread

That first touch was Bergkamp-esque.

But yeah, defending was rubbish.

Tbf Japan are a good watch, under the pump a bit at times but they're bursting with energy, some good football at times too.

I'm not particularly surprised to be honest. Japan are very decent and Germany well, aren't. Plenty of crap here that wouldn't have got near the squad in 2010 or 2014. Süle at right back is like a very bad version of Sven putting Carragher there for England.

Japan are almost always great value at tourneys, love watching them. Arguably a bit naive but makes a nice change from the usual play for the draw you see so often.

Every single WC Japan look good, it's a shame they never make it count in the knockouts though.

I love the stoppage time stuff happening in this tourney. Give me institutional Fergie Time.

I'm fine with all these extra minutes when there've been injuries or time wasting, but can't think of any time the medics have been on or any time wasting at all this half.

Goals, subs and VAR as well and not just an alleged 30 seconds for each one. The exact amount of time the game is stopped because of them.

I mean personally I’d just institute actual clock stoppages but that’s probably not realistic.

I agree, clock should only be running when the ball is in play.
It's being looked into I think, with something more like 60-70 minutes run to to reflect the average ball in okay time at the moment.
