TBF the ref allowed advantage a few times from which we scored - maybe he could have clamped down on the niggly Iranian challenges but otherwise he did okay. It was VAR who were inconsistent and not fit for purpose today.

I thought the refereeing was better than most of that we see in the Prem weekly (Edit: excluding VAR obviously!)

The ref still has the choice not to give it. Too many of them think because they've been told to look at the monitor they have to change the decision they originally made. It's not a penalty, there is contact like that on pretty much every corner, if you were to consistently apply that you would have about 5 penalties per match.
