Seemed like a charity decision by the VAR absolutely a joke and zero consistency.

It's a very weak decision to give a pen there. But taking the decisions in isolation, I can see why Maguire's wasn't given as (to a lesser extent) he also had his arm around the Iranian player too.

Referee’ing for a second day has been poor and inconsistent.

Also another subpar team having tactics of kick & fall once they’ve fell behind

TBF the ref allowed advantage a few times from which we scored - maybe he could have clamped down on the niggly Iranian challenges but otherwise he did okay. It was VAR who were inconsistent and not fit for purpose today.
