Regardless of whether or not there were threats against his family the mere fact that strangers had got into his house and stolen property would have scared the shit out of his partner and kids. Returning home was fully justifiable to give the support required and to re-arrange security or a place elsewhere for the short term.

It wasn’t a big deal as he wasn’t going to play anyway and we’re not exactly short of options there.

So it would be a bit silly to not go back IMO and even if he was a cold hearted bastard his family might have been asking anyway.

He's had threats previously as well, IIRC, so when something like this happens I have to wonder what extra layer of fear/anxiety is introduced by that history. Can't be insignificant, I would think.
