Yep anyone would bit like when we spanked the Dutch in 96 but still ended up not winning.
Dutch thrashed a decent Yugoslav side 6-1 in the QF of euro 2000 to go out to Italy in the next round.
Swiss are no mugs completely different matter against top notch opponents

You're right, but the 'if' in that last sentence is doing a lot of heavy lifting. They just haven't shown that level of performance and attacking flair, well, ever before really.

No one has looked top notch though. Every team has obvious weaknesses. Usually the teams that start slow and hit form in the knockouts that win it, at least that's my anecdotal evidence.

Haven't played without Ronaldo for over a decade though. The over reliance on him was evidently a factor.

Spain beat Denmark 5-1 in 86. Denmark themselves had beaten Uruguay 6-1 in the group stage.

So a hat-trick for Ramos and a 6th from Rafael Leao, another we've been linked with in the past. Portugal were superb tonight and looked a much better team without the narcissistic prick on the field though the fucking commentary team didn't stop banging on about him. He came on and scored but ruled out as he was way offside. Very impressed with Portugal tonight, one of the best performances I've seen this tournament

No, but they’re surely way better than a weakened Senegal.

At least we’re at the bit where nearly every game won’t come with the caveat that the opposition were lower level. Although if Portugal put away Morocco they’ll still ‘have it all to prove’…

Really? There were plenty happy to assume so after we beat Iran and even more after Senegal. The kind of fan who posts on forums that now Lop is here we’ll finish top half and have a decent shot at a cup. Never underestimate the optimism of some fans.
