Spain were as dull as fuck against Japan and Morocco though. Not Brazil. And Croatia aren't (wrongly) lauded for playing superb football like Spain are.

I think they've set up excellently, would be the height of idiocy to go gung ho against an in form team that effectively has five attackers.

It’s absolutely the right move competitively but it kills the spectacle stone dead, IMO.

Spain do it, too, IMO, they just get to be flashy about it because they’re all such good dribblers (relatively speaking).

If I was Croatian I’d be loving it, I bet.

In fairness, Croatia play to their strengths. Their midfield 3 is up there with anyone else in the tournament but they have no goals in the side other than Perisic so they have to play a suffocation style.

This isn’t Brazil 1970, 82, 98 etc, which doesn’t help the game either. They’ve got some good players but nowhere near the level of previous sides.

Difference with Croatia compared to teams that sit in they always pose a threat on the break and have players that can cause problems.
