The Official FIFA World Cup 2022 Megathread

I’m glad somebody gets it
I'm so stupid. Here's me judging Brasil based purely on what I'm watching and using my own discretion. Duh. Sounds more to me like you dislike Brasil, and I can understand why as some of their players can be pretty annoying. You could just say that though, as it's more tenable than suggesting clearly inferior teams are better.

They’re playing well but no better than Spain v Costa Rica, France v Australia or England v Iran.
Pound for pound their squad is no better than the above 3 sides.
It’s a good side disposing of poor opponents.

I'm a big fan of Spain, certainly more than Brasil, and would love them to go on and win it but this Brasil side looks a much better starting XI and one with much more belief. Certainly ('certainly' ha. In my opinion more like) more goals against any decent team. I'd love Spain to win it, but it looks more like a team for the next World Cup.

FFS. The England match is on ITV again on Saturday.

I’ll be in the pub so hopefully it drowns out Matterface, England won 7 out of 27 games in tournaments since 98 if you believe in superstition.
More down to the fact England have been crap between 98-2016

Frankly I completely disagree. But life would be fucking dull if we all sang from the same hymn sheet.

Hwang has been Korea's best player, as low a bar as it is.

For me no one is playing better football than England currently, I’m a bit bias yes but also very critical of my own team.
However I still think it’ll be another what if year.

Mr rich tea biscuits could be out v France

As per previous comments in this thread, it's so hard to tell as pretty much all the good teams have been playing poor opposition up until the quarter finals. Has the seeding been more 'effective' this time round than in previous editions? Feels like there have been very few clashes to fairly assess anyone. Spain v Germany the odd one out and, well... Can't really remember so it's probably like this every time.

Blargh.

If England and Brazil end up playing each other that should have a little spice, at least.

He's been pretty 'lively' and a couple of good strikes on goal.
Brazil are on another level tbh and would have humiliated most teams in the first half, but HHC definitely didn’t disgrace himself. If a bit of that could rub off for the second half of the season, at least we may have an option

A little less spice than when / if they play Argentina in the semi. Personally I'd love to see that game.

Can you imagine how garbled Lage's "wisdom" must have been after being translated to Korean?
