The Official FIFA World Cup 2022 Megathread

Who you picking instead? I’d have Foden in CM and then Saka/Kane/Rashford up top.
If I was going attacking then definitely (more 4-2-3-1).

But if I'm going 4-3-3 then I'd keep the same team as against Wales.

I think Saka and Rashford are interchangeable in the 4-3-3.

Embarrassingly low attendance for a last 16 game.

Be strange to drop Foden. I don't have a problem with the 4-3-3 but we must go with the same team. Foden and Rashford swapping wings and moving beyond Kane should destroy the fragile Senegal back line.

The key is the tempo. Playing at Zero tempo suits them, play at a high tempo at the start of each half for at least 15 minutes will give them too many problems.

Rashford wasn't even good against Wales. Shocking first half especially. I get that he scored twice but he doesn't score either against a competent keeper. Saka is a much better player and allows foden to play on the left where I think he's better.

C'mon give Rashford credit. He was excellent 2nd half. And his free kicks are dangerous, something Saka doesn't have.

From what I’ve seen so far if we don’t revert to the Southgate approach from the past and actually attack them there’s absolutely no reason we can’t beat France. Just need to get the job done this evening.

Szczesny over commits, feigned injury, and France fet a second goal chalked off.
What a crock.

I don't mind Rashford, he's more of a threat in behind than anyone else in the squad as you've alluded to. I just prefer Saka overall.

He was much better second half, that freekick should have been catching practice though. Powerful enough, however would have been straight at ward if he hadn't gambled incorrectly. Obviously got to get it on target and far enough to the corner which most players don't do.

The concern would be France are better defensively (at least on paper) than England. I'd love to see a shootout type game though and think England have enough firepower to win 4-3 if needed. Gareth won't do it though.
