The NFL Thread

I’m out of touch. I’ve seen the eagles do this, but thought it was just a sneak which they were better at because they had a big/good O Line and a solid QB. Why is everyone else not been able to replicate this?

Because they don't have an elite Oline and a QB who can benchpress 600lbs. It's jealousy, even the wording of the amendment is pathetic. I get it's aesthetically unappealing, but to try and outlaw it is pathetic when anyone else could try and do it to the same level but can't

Josh Allen and the Bills were extremely successful with it (until the AFC Championship). They had something like a 98% success rate on 3rd or 4th and 1 or less using their version. Sean McDermott has supported banning it. 🤯🤷‍♂️😵‍💫

Vote was 16-16, so it stays for now. They are going to try and propse it again in May without making it so obviously an anti Eagles amendment and without pretending it's a safety issue. Feels like at some point it'll pass.

In positive news, both teams will now get a possession in regular season overtime

Just bumped into Bryce Young getting groceries, which will never not feel like discovering a cryptid to me.

All of the QBs sliding. Except Ward, of course.

Was about to post how boring this draft is. No shocks, only one trade. Then when the Texans seemed about to pick Jackson at 25, the Vikes take him at 24. So Texans trade out of the 1st round. Three hours of watching in anticipation - for nothing.

Rough that Dennison! Trading out is better than taking a dud though I suppose.

Very pleased with the Raiders pick, potential superstar and at a huge position of need.

RBs that high have to be a superstar.

It must have been running late as I recorded and watched on fast forward this morning, Eagles trade up a pick, cut to commercial break, recording ends 😃

It's the annual reminder that anyone that questions how America got Trump, just watch that and that the Falcons are a terribly run organisation

He definitely has that potential.

I’m way out of touch but thought I’d have a look at what they did. Might seem bad on the face of it, but probably isn’t if you look deeper. Basically swapped next years 1st for this years and as a result swapped a second for a third. If you’ve got your guy then it’s probably a decent move (likely make playoffs and devalue next years 1st), if he or the season is a bust then of course it’s a shocker.

I see the Eagles picked up Jiihad. He’s very raw but his ceiling is definitely high. Biggest weakness is being decisive, which I would expect Fangio can help him improve.

Also, his name is Jiihad. I can’t stress enough how uselessly hilarious that is to me.

They picked up a player who was widely mocked to go late in the first or early in the second in a universally appraised week draft for a first next year in a (year out) supposedly stronger one a year after taking a QB high whilst giving Cousins a contract they are still on the hook for £40m this year. They are incompetent. It was a massive overpayment, look what the Giants gave up to trade the spot above

It's going to get some uncomfortable 'japes' I've already seen one that is both racist and inaccurate wearing a turban.

As for the pick, the Eagles aren't absolutely needy anywhere but as a LB it's not great positional importance wise, if as some have suggested they move him to EDGE then time will tell.

Yeah signing cousins was stupid and then even more so if taking a QB in the draft. I can’t comment on the ability of the player or next years draft though so will bow to your wisdom. On the Giants though they’ve only moved up 9 spots so the capital isn’t going to be too comparable to moving up 20, fully accepting I don’t know if the player was a reach or not.
