I’m out of touch. I’ve seen the eagles do this, but thought it was just a sneak which they were better at because they had a big/good O Line and a solid QB. Why is everyone else not been able to replicate this?

Because they don't have an elite Oline and a QB who can benchpress 600lbs. It's jealousy, even the wording of the amendment is pathetic. I get it's aesthetically unappealing, but to try and outlaw it is pathetic when anyone else could try and do it to the same level but can't
Josh Allen and the Bills were extremely successful with it (until the AFC Championship). They had something like a 98% success rate on 3rd or 4th and 1 or less using their version. Sean McDermott has supported banning it.
Vote was 16-16, so it stays for now. They are going to try and propse it again in May without making it so obviously an anti Eagles amendment and without pretending it's a safety issue. Feels like at some point it'll pass.
In positive news, both teams will now get a possession in regular season overtime
