The NFL Thread

It's hilarious watching these big guys do basic things like catching a ball. It's ridiculous how they can't do it. Almost as amusing as watching props at club standard rugby.

That's silly statement. It was one mistake and the Packers guy will know he fucked up but players drop the ball simply in all ball sports, especially under pressure.

I tend to agree with you Bear, it should be that both teams get one possession whatever the score. Great game though, Lynch in beast mode is great to watch.

Wasn't just that he dropped it, he shouldn't have been going for it, as pointed out on sky it wasn't his job and Nelson behind him waiting to catch it. Have to feel sorry for him though he'll never forget that.

Indeed, I agree with you, the moment got to him. Stupid statements such as the one from Punts shows how little people know about ability, pressure or speed.

Not only Bostick. They should never have allowed Willson to catch that 2 pt conversion. Then they win the game with Crosby's field goal.

That's somewhat incorrect; if you're on the hands team and you think you have the best shot at the ball, you have to go for it.

Yeah very good point, I've no idea how they let him catch that, was in the air for ages.

I suppose but he should have been aware of where Nelson was and what his job was.

That's just how you're coached. If you're on the hands team, you have one job. Our coaches in high school would have ripped our heads off if we got tentative on onside kicks.

Patriots have this game won already, the Colts look completely overwhelmed.

Have I mentioned that I hate the Patriots at all?

Right with you, Toon. Unfortunately for us, Belichik is legitimately one of the greatest ever. It's incredible what he can squeeze out of his teams.

Looks like the Super Bowl is going to be Seattle and New England.

Gross.

Sounds like massively sour grapes to me.

Well, well, 11 of the 12 balls the Pats provided for the game have been found to have been ~2lbs underweight. Hope the league brings down the hammer.

There has been a culture of cheating and bending the rules at that organisation for years. But nothing meaningful will happen to them, you watch. In my opinion, even though this incident maybe had little impact on the result of this particular game there is enough evicence to suggest that this cheating culture has been at the heart of their success for years. IMO Belichick should be suspended for at least 1 year, probably more as it is a repeat offence, Kraft should be removed from the officiating panel and they should be stripped of all, their draft picks for at least one year. They need to be treated hard or their cheating ways will continue. They are a scumbag organisation and all Belichick's success needs a great big * beside it.

They should certainly have some kind of punishment for that, maybe take away a couple of draft picks or something. I'm not sure what advantage they gained from it though?

It's easier to catch a ball in cold conditions that is slightly deflated. Gives the ball 'play'. Technically it is easier to hold on a run and more difficult to knock out of a players hand too, but this is generally not considered.

Whilst Toon is, predictably, OTT in his criticism I think he's right re Belichik, this is twice now in important games he needs a years ban and Kraft needs removing from the officials panel. Their first draft pick needs to be removed but the whole lot is too far.

Repeat offenders. The fines and losing first round picks in 2008 didn't teach them.

Mike Wilbon (the black guy here) sums up my feelings about it:

"You’re a cheater, you’re a lying franchise… GET OUT."
