Can anyone explain the logic of the Rodgers mega deal? Green Bay haven’t been particularly close to a SB win for a while with him and now presumably they have absolutely no cap space to improve their team?

He was already under contract for next season so assuming he wanted to stay they had to restructure his deal and cap hit so that they could franchise tag Adams

The salary cap for each team has increased for next season, so all teams will have some flexibility. The Packers have won 13 games and been no1 NFC seed in each of the past three seasons (I think), so are regularly just one player/refereeing decision/new coach away from making the Superbowl. Rodgers is reigning MVP, the Packers won't win anything without him.

Wentz traded to Washington, not sure that's a massive upgrade on Heinicke.

Colts have done well to get a 3 and a conditional 2 for him, silly overpayment by Washington who will have another season of irrelevance

Mitch Trubisky probably the best available free agent QB. Wonder where he'll end up? I reckon he's a better QB than Wentz, he got a rough deal at the Bears and bore the brunt of the failings even though that whole organisation has been a shit show.

He's going to get paid apparently. I think it speaks to how weak the draft class is as much as anything.
Colts, Panthers, Steelers, Saints, Bucs, Lions, Eagles and Seahawks all looking for options with various degrees of desperation and only Jimmy G, who's had shoulder surgery and Watson available who most would say are clearly better in the veteran market.
Watson is in court on Friday. If he avoids criminal prosecution then he'll move quickly

Hoping the Texans don't screw up his trade - but it is something they "always" get wrong. Dolphins, Panthers, Eagles still being linked to him, and now the Seahawks too. As TT says, if court goes okay for him he will be traded soon after.

New Orleans could do worse than a punt on him for a season.

I want nothing to do with Watson, for obvious reasons.

Would you take Watson if they could make the financials work cap wise? Talent versus scumbag quandary. Would immediately bother second best QB in the NFC
Depends how the civil suits do. If he buys his way out then no, if he's found not to have done anything then yes.

He's supremely talented.

If he's found not to have done anything we've got to respect that haven't we?
I am too close to the victims to feel that way, I suppose.

I don't mean for that to sound so cringey.

It's a me thing, basically. I make no claim to being a moral authority on this issue.

He's getting traded this week, so teams have got to make decisions before the civil cases play out. Also likely to get a 6 game ban at some point if he ends up paying them off. Fan reaction will be interesting, I think he'll go a team in the South rather than the scrutiny he'll get in a more liberal state. It's why Seattle would surprise me, Panthers makes sense

There's actually been a piece in the local paper here demanding David Tepper explain the Panthers' full position on Watson.
