The NFL Thread

It certainly raises suspicions.

But then again it could easily be true, and her legal team have advised her to wait until now to ensure maximum payout, knowing full well he'll never see any jail time.

I think she wants $75k, that seems a small amount - almost too small. The 3 alleged assaults took place over several months and it is tempting to believe that she would have quit after the 1st one. Not saying she is lying, but there is nothing so far that says she is telling the truth - except for it being AB.

It's a wonder anyone speaks up. I remember being called a liar, too, and my attacker couldn't afford any sort of lawyer, much less the best in the world.

Alan, I really didn't want to upset you.

There are lots of reasons why victims react in the way they do, and often these reasons do not make sense to anyone who has not been in their situation. Most of us have not, and hopefully never will be. Unfortunately you have, and some things, that the rest of us question, may seem perfectly understandable to you.

But neither his fame nor his personality make him guilty any more than her accusations and demands make her a money grabber. My feeling is still that he is innocent (but his 'consensual' explanation is not convincing).

The screenshots of the emails he sent her lend some credence to her accusations. He clearly is a narcissistic scumbag, so whether or not the accusations are false would anyone be truly surprised if they were true? I sure as shit wouldn't.

Not because I like/trust him, but the timing of the allegations, the $$$ being sought, no police investigation or charges.

The burden of proof in a civil case is not the same as in a criminal case, so civil cases are much easier to win. The number of rape/sexual assault criminal cases that actually result in a prosecution is criminal in itself. More often than not, even now, it is the victim who ends up feeling like they are on trial. For some backward reason, we seem to still live in a world where women are asking for it and making it up. It's bollocks. Rape happens and the perpetrators are far too often let off scot free.

I apologize for my tone. I didn't mean to have a go at you, it's just a touchy subject for me.

I remember after it happened. All I wanted was for someone to believe me. I didn't even care if my attacker was punished. I just needed someone to respond with something other than "men can't be raped" or "no way, they wouldn't do that".

I'm not saying that Brown is definitely guilty. But I do wish that our first reaction to such accusations wasn't to be more suspicious of the accuser than the accused.

I never thought you were having a go at me, I was just conscious of sounding like a victim blamer.

Anyway, Jags at Texans on Sunday. Winner?

Texans looked very good last week. Jags haven’t got St Nick. Texans should be able to restrict Fournette and therefore win comfortably, but if Minshew plays well and they have a balanced offence the who knows

Good D up against a rookie QB? Jags D is normally good but up against Watson and Hopkins.

Texans win for me.

Texans looked good first up. They should have too much for the Jags.

Typical Texans at home - 14 point 1/2 time lead, struggle in 2nd half, win by 3 points.

Or - can't get it going early on against a good defence, finally get a touchdown but too little too late.

Should win this game, but I am never confident.

Great touchdown by the vikings to reduce arrears to 21-16 in the 3rd.

Ravens look good again and Miami are in for a long long season. I’m expecting an 0-16 season for them

Yeah Dolphins suck. Ravens look good but they've played arguably the 2 shittest teams in the NFL in the Dolphins and Cardinals. Reserve judgement until they've beaten someone good.

I'm also going to stick with my opinion that Josh Allen will turn out to be the best QB from last year's draft.

Cousins threw a stupid interception with 5 minutes left to ruin any chance of a win, the defence completely nullified Green Bay after the first quarter but that 21 points given up at the start was too many.

Not sure Cousins is the answer that I thought he would be, not that it really matters as we all know the pats are winning the Super Bowl again anyway.

Theres a lot of things to like about this Vikings team, defence still looks very good. 2 top tier receivers, Cook looks back to his best and is running superbly. It all matters for little though when you have a QB like Cousins. Really poor decision making and yet again comes up short when it matters most. They should probably look in the next draft but not sure how feasible that is going to be with the money Cousins is going to be earning in year 3 of that contract.

That interception by Cousins was brainless. Threw to a guy covered by two blokes which was never ever going to be caught.
