The NFL Thread

Kelvin Benjamin is average at best. There were at least three perfect throws from Taylor that were dropped. The offensive line looks bad because it is bad. You don't have an INT ratio like Taylor's if you are inaccurate and can't read a defense.

No you have an INT ratio like Taylor's because you don't throw the damn ball to receivers. Again, I have seen every single one of Taylor's games as a Bill: he simply isn't very good. You seem to be basing your info off stats and highlight reels, and I am telling you straight, Taylor is the number 1 reason the Bills don't win more games. He has one 300 yard passing game in his career. ONE. You can go to the Bills forums and 90% of Bills fans want him gone. For good reason. You are utterly wrong in your assessment. No surprise when you probably only see the Bills play once a year... You can argue stats all you want, but I'll take Tony Romo's assessment over yours thank you, Alan, and Romo blasted Taylor's ability to read the defense multiple times in that game and the Bills game he covered earlier in the season.

Oh and as for the o-line, this is the same o-line that has had the number 1 rushing attack the past 2 years and number 6 this year? They must really be bad...

Trust Romo all you want, I don't know why you're so wound up about it. I know what I see with the Bills. Have fun with the Peterman, I guess.

Tyrod just isn't good enough. He looks like a backup QB to be honest. Even Garappolo looks better than him.

Garoppolo is a full-on franchise changer. Not being as good as him is something you could say about the majority of QBs in this league. (FWIW I know it might seem a bit early to be declaring that but I seriously rate the guy and think New England trading him away is the worst move they've made in absolutely ages).

Tyrod is far from a Hall of Famer but in a good team he'd be a perfectly solid starting QB. Super Bowls have been won by far worse players than him. All that said, the odds of him being the QB in Buffalo next season are 0%. Somewhat ironically, one of the teams said to be interested in him is the one located where he is right now: the Jaguars.

Jimmy G has been very good and looks great value for a second round pick and is supposedly the reason why Kraft and Belichick have fallen out hence the Giants rumours. That said half a dozen good performances after your teams season is all over and therefore relatively pressure free is too early to be rolling out the franchise tag.

As for Taylor to win a SB with him as your QB you'd need one hell of a Defense. As Alan says it has been done as recently as a couple of years ago at Denver when Manning was over the hill and a couple of times at the Giants with the other Manning, could even happen this year with the Jags although I doubt it, but it's not something you'd plan for.

Matt Flynn springs to mind here although he only had one game, others are TJ Yates and Osweiler. I think the time to judge Jimmy G is the start of next season.

Taylor is one of the poorest QB's in the league, his mechanics and decision making yesterday were shocking, having said that Bortles were just as bad so I don't see why the Jags would go for him when there are much better option in players like Kirk Cousins available.

Garoppolo is going to be really, really good. There is talk of trouble in Patriots paradise because Belichick wanted to keep him to take over from Brady as early as this season which put Brady's nose out of joint, Kraft sided with Brady so Jimmy was traded. Bad mistake by NE, rumours that Belichick could quit at the end of this season because of it, possibly to take a position with the Giants, where he started his coaching career. If that happens the rest of the NFL will rejoice because without Belichick and with an ageing Brady starting to show signs of decline the Patriots domination could be soon coming to an end. Which would be an absolute blessing for the league because in my opinion their domination is one of the reasons NFL ratings are on the decline, everyone is sick of seeing them in the Superbowl every year.

I guess that depends on whether you follow another of the teams in the NFC East!

On an unrelated and unscientific note, I was surprised by how few Patriots jerseys t-shirts etc I saw when I was in Boston in August. Very much the 4th of the big 4 franchises. I appreciate Foxborough is an hour away, nevertheless it still surprised me, way more in Maine and New Hampshire.

Maybe folks mainly wear team colours at games etc. I never could understand why grown men would wear Wolves shirts outside of Molineux for example. Takes all sorts I suppose.

From my own experience of the US which admittedly is limited to 4 states I would see lots of baseball caps in team colours and quite a few T-shirts/ hoodies. Mainly for the Yankees and Giants.

It didn't seem to affect those wearing ill fitting Bruins, Red Sox and Celtics stuff though and only the middle of those was in-season. Compare that to Philly for example - again only my experience, but there'd be twice as much Eagles as 76ers, Flyers and Phillies stuff combined, although I appreciate none of those are really iconic franchises in the way the Boston ones are.

You see people wearing the team colours, caps, jerseys, tshirts, jackets all the time here, even when the season is over. I'm guilty of wearing Pitt Penguin tee' s all year round :)

I should've mentioned that I was in NJ/ NY it would've made more sense :(

I wear mine here, it's a good talking point.

'Whose colours are they then?'
'Wolves'
'Who'
'Wolverhampton Wanderers'
'Would that be soccer? '
'No it would be football ya daft twat '

London games are announced at 3.45pm on Thursday
Cheers Tony. Hadn't seen that yet.

Hopefully it'll be two back to back at Wembley, three week break then back to back at Spurs. Same as last year. I've had enough of Twickenham.

Rumours are the Eagles are @ the Titans or the Jags, hopefully one of the later October games so Wentz will definitely play. Do the Jags have a good home support Bear given the number of times they have played here or is it still fairly neutral when they play?

They do have a pretty good following at the games in terms of shirts and merchandise worn. Less vocal as they used to be though, as they've possibly been over here too often.

I'm still hoping the Packers and Patriots come over. They play each other next year apparently with Patriots as the home team. That would do nicely. Though would be just typical if that happened, Bellechick leaves, they become rubbish, and Aaron Rodgers retires!

Thanks, would prefer the Titans then on both fan and strength of side grounds, even more so if the Jags over on from Bortles.

I thought there were a certain number of sides guaranteed unofficially to not have their games moved, the Pats and Packers being 2 of them, Eagles are another. Sure it was a condition of someone's ground relocation as well, could have been the Falcons or the Vikings?

Edit it's the Steelers at Heinz, not a relocation.

Pats and Packers definitely complain about the possibilty of coming over. Pats have don't it before though years ago. Packers have insisted they won't lose a home game which is fair enough as they're fan owned, and have sold out every one of their home games for the last 40 years!
