The Nerdy Dr Who Geekfest Thread

If she had of been crap, would any of you had the nerve to say so ??

Yea,I'd set a low bar for this series, and not because it's a woman, but had felt as a series it was coasting and had lost its way,for a while, capaldi had been sort of underwritten,I felt he should have been angrier, and more menacing,Malcolm tucker without the swearing.
I'd thought all the companions was going to be too many, wondered how they'd link them all in with the Dr,that's answered straight away, and they might not be as bad as I was expecting, seem to be strong characters in their own right, not just sidekicks.
It was funny, the name mix up made me laugh, but best of all the theme tune has gone old Skool, non of this orchestral nonsense that always really annoyed me,nearly as good as the orbital "cover" of it

I enjoyed last night's episode. Thought JW was entertaining as the Doctor. I hope they continue to have standalone episode without too much of an overarching storyline that you need to be a DW geek to follow. You couldn't really enjoy a single episode in the last few series as it was all so convoluted.

Yeah, it was fun! I was one of the daft sods who hung on through Capaldi's series, but it felt VERY different- less hyperactive, and more focused on character than puzzles. I'll be back next week.

I enjoyed the last series of Capaldi (and liked him a lot as a doctor) - but enjoyed this episode too. It felt a bit different in the way the episode ran - in a nice way - and I thought JW was excellent.

I thought it was a really strong opening episode. Jodie Whittaker was excellent, as was Bradley Walsh (and I'll admit my surprise at the latter).

It needed a reboot (although I really enjoyed the Capaldi era) as I think it started to become too complicated for younger viewers and whilst it always needs to have that scary aspect, I thought last night's was pitched just right. Graham's character in particular is quite original for a companion and I'm interested in seeing what happens with the dynamic between him and The Doctor.

So I was impressed - looking forward to next week. And that title music is tremendous - by far the best since the show returned in 2005.

So there we go,thumbs up from the Dr who super geek,so must have been ok

And the Mail reviewer and commenters hated it so all is good.

Have Sen a couple of comments saying "where's the tardis?,it's not Dr who without that" and "what have they done the theme, bring back the old one!" But they're dicks so I've ignored them

There have been plenty of episodes without the Tardis (and Tom Baker's first season hardly featured it at all, as they travelled via Transmat beam for most of it, I'm not sure if we ever actually see the Tardis interior at all during that season) - the theme is far closer to the original than any of the others since 2005 so they're JUST PLAIN WRONG DAMN THEM.

I started to lose interest in Capaldi's Doctor when he started wearing the shades and playing a guitar.

I saw her on Graham Norton last week. Her Huddersfield accent did my head in a bit tbh.

Damn her for not putting on an estuary English accent during a chat show appearance.

Won't even do it in America....and fair play to the subtitles team for trying to understand it

I watched the Who as I was awake waiting for the wife to return from the hospital (had taken her Dad in at 11pm...all good though) and it was a pretty decent watch. That is high praise from me.

Someone at work mentioned all the nerds having a tug over a female doctor...I said that a female doctor won't change the numbers at all.

Loved the new episode, thought it was marvellous really. And Jodie hit all the right spots as recent regenerated Doctor to me. Looking forward to the next episodes.

Have to say though, seeing her wearing Capaldi's suit for the entire episode broke my heart. I loved his Doctor.

You, me and Langers need to seriously discuss Tom Baker when you are next over in town...
