The Nerdy Dr Who Geekfest Thread

It wasn't my favourite episode of this series but it was another strong episode. I think the characters are becoming so much more interesting.

It's a considerably better show nowadays.

Nice touch - 1920s style cigarette case brought out by Capaldi, and it contains Jelly Babies

TOMBAKERTASTIC

Another great episode that, the time clock thing worked very well I feel! I have to say though, that next episode looks bloody scary and the mummy was creepy in itself!

Next week looks like an absolute blinder.

btw - Genna Coleman in a 20s dress. Hubba hubba, roll my tongue up.

Another brilliant episode. Really enjoyed the creature, and the way the Doctor's conscience is explored makes for good telly.

And I agree with Paddy - tremendous costumage.

Anyone else think that Missy was the Doctor's Daughter at first?

No, I thought she was either The Rani, or when she said Missy was short for 'Mistress' I thought it was Romana (K9 called her Mistress all the time).

I'm not sure what to think about the actual reveal. Whilst I liked the last episode and the drama at the end was well done, the whole 'Time Lords can change sex' thing doesn't really convince me.

I guess she's sinister enough - looking forward to seeing what they do with the finale tomorrow. It's been a good series IMO.

So,the Christmas Special.

I watched it.

Pretty much it.
Not convinced by Capaldi at all to be honest.

Think he needs better scripts tbh,Clara was supposed to go in this one,but she's changed her mind and worse they've rewritten scripts to keep her,I'd have told her you're off. Watched it and was massively underwhelmed by it,what a letdown, really think they need to sort the scripts out,if Moffat ain't up to it,get someone else in

I thought it was disjointed at best....The poorest Christmas Special I can remember

Langers will have none of this, Its akin to spreading your bread with dog shit, he would still go yum yum... ;-)

Moffley out?

Inceptionlite

This. The episode was alright I suppose but saying that, I do think that Capaldi is doing a decent job.

I haven't had chance to comment on this yet!

I agree with the majority of this - I thought the special was alright but it wasn't great. I wholeheartedly agree with your thoughts on Clara - although she improved in the last series, why bring her back? I think they should have ended her story - albeit in a tragic sort of way - at the end of the last series.

The companions are having too much influence on the series nowadays and I think that's to the detriment of the show. We're not in 'Rose Tyler and her companion: The Doctor' territory yet, but it's getting there.

I actually liked the 'old Clara' sending off conversation, then it was just another dream within a dream.

I disagree, while Rose was turned into some sort of hero with a dimension cannon and Donna did something spectacular, noone's been as important to human kind as Amy and even more so Clara. Not even the Doctor!Makes me sick how important they are, even upon joining the TARDIS.

I forgive you, you're clearly not thinking straight these days. :2xGay:

I don't mean specifics of the storyline, I meant the gravitas of the character within the show. There hasn't been a companion as 'high profile' as Rose. That profile only escalates when the companion has outlasted the Doctor, as is the case with Clara.

Yeah you have a point about Rose. What I meant Amy and Clara was touted as so very very important from the start...the characters didn't really have anywhere to go from there.
