Agreed there - not a lot that has me open-mouthed but that was one of them! Not sure how they'll follow it up but I'm looking forward to seeing it!

The first episode was unreal - the best of the Capaldi era thus far IMO. The rest have been quite good - though last week's was a bit slow until the part when we find out why the Doctor looks like he does.
Maisie Williams was brilliant. She's a very talented actress and her scenes with Capaldi were great.
I think it's been better than the last series - and there's Zygons next week! Yay!

You know, somehow I managed to completely miss the Clara's death thing until I saw it - just as well I did 'cos it was a real shock! I wonder how many were expecting it thanks to whoever leaked it...

Knew I shouldn't have read this thread,having not seen tonight's episode,thanks guys,but tbh she should have gone a while ago,was starting to really irritate me,and I felt she seemed to be getting bigger than the Dr,would be happy if Maisie Williams was the new companion,would be happier still if it was Natalie minnevek(cue some people who can be bothered firing up Google to see who she is)

Yep, needlessly over-complicated, an unsatisfactory end to what is now a muddled plot line, time lords AGAIN really shoddily written, and by the end I was actually getting bored.
That's not what a season finale should be like IMO. It promised much, delivered very little.
Good performances from the main cast aside, I thought it was extremely uninspiring.

I think Moffat is over-complicating things TBH.
I'd like the show to go back to its entertaining style as opposed to the more thought provoking style, of which this season has been a bit overly-reliant. After last week's (which I really enjoyed) I thought a more bombastic end would have fitted better.
And he's totally bottled Clara's 'departure'!!
But yeah, each to their own I suppose. The Christmas special looks ace!

I saw the last 3 episodes.
thought last week's was very good. reminded me of a few good sci fi stories I've read.
The one before with the hidden streets was pretty average I thought.
Didn't really enjoy tonight. Didn't make a lot of sense, had the time lords acting like muppets and hard to understand their motivations. from the sublime to the ridiculous for me.
tbh ever since Dr who returned I've thought it's been style over substance, emphasis on strong characters over strong stories. occasionally like last week's there's a story that's a gem. Not a surprise that with only the one actor in it the story had to be strong. Of course it's meant to be for kids, so for a grown up sci fi reader I don't expect too much when I do watch it.
