The Nerdy Dr Who Geekfest Thread

BBC moving Dr Who to its 8.30 slot and demanding that anyone who watches Dr Who watches Strictly, which starts at 7.30

Well, they can sod off. 8.30 is also far too late for a programme that's loved by young kids as well as adults.

Thank goodness for iPlayer.

Not that I didn't enjoy it but that seemed a fairly weak episode to me really, clever but weak...

The twist to who the Architect was ended up being fairly obvious as soon as "he is a time traveler" was mentioned! Who else could it have been?

I thought it was okay - nowhere near as good as the last 3 episodes but a clever, different idea - I applaud a slightly different approach to a storyline.

The brain frying was a bit OTT for early evening viewing though!!

As for Saturday's episode, it's not one I'm in a rush to see again anytime soon.

There are people 'out there' saying this was the best episode since the 2005 return.Just like every week.

Another disappointment for me,I just don't care what happens to the characters and that's a big thing for me.Also, and maybe more worrying for me,is I'm getting a bit worn out by Doctor Motormouth. :)

Where do you read these reviews? I've not seen anything like that anywhere! Most people saying it was a fairly decent if at times slightly underwhelming episode.

Gallifrey Base I think it's called (it's a forum). Most of them were 7s and 8s out of 10 but there are always someone, maybe three or four who say it's the best ever or since the return. :) And maybe 1% say they'd rather listen to the sound of a leaf blower (1/10) :)

Pretty much every episode average between 7 and 8 tho, with 70% of the votes from 7 to 10 so all is well.

Ahh I think I know the one. I used to frequent there but was actually scared off the place because it's TOO nerdy. (Yes - you read that correctly).

I wonder if you're not that sold on the new Doctor as you're more of a new series fan rather than someone who's grown up with the classic series? Capaldi is definitely the nearest there's been to Tom Baker and I think that's why I think he's so good. It needed a different approach to the role from the last few and we're getting that in abundance. I really do think he's superb.

He reminds me of a cross between Tom Baker, later Colin Baker and William Hartnell. But without the middle one's awful clothing.

Many of them are a bit nerdy,I usually only read the rate/review threads.

Quite possible sir,I actually like the Tom Baker era. He's got a charm I don't see in Capaldi's doctor but they're quite similar.

It's hard to explain,I'm more disappointed in myself for not liking the show than in the show because I know it's good,it's just not my kind of good. :)

That was better than I thought it would be from the trailer, really engaging that! The thing with the cop though - wonder when they'll explain that?

I have three major concerns.

1.I want Danny Pink gone.
2.I want Clara gone.
3.I want some charm injected into the caretaker.

As for the story...poor 'villain',ridiculous somersault...well there was no story really. And get rid of the kid!

I only watched The Caretaker last night and I have to say I really did enjoy it - Capaldi is absolutely brilliant. Love his Doctor. I still find Clara a bit twee, but she's definitely improved this series. It's a better Doctor/Companion relationship and Jenna Coleman has MUCH better on screen chemistry with Peter Capaldi compared to Matt Smith. I like Danny and the way he's being introduced, mainly because it keeps the Doctor separate from the relationship of his companion, rather than being at the centre of it. This Doctor seems to be much more 'alien' than any of the 'new' Doctors and it's massively improving the character as a result.

As for the story arc teaser - I'm not yet finding it too intrusive. It's not distracting from the separate storylines played out each week and I'm intrigued as to where it's heading.

All good as far as I'm concerned.

What about the sudden appearance of an invisibility watch? Did the classic series have that?

What are the odds it will never be seen again? :)

That's it for awhile sadly (for me).

The most surprising thing was that Courtney didnt ruin it for me! Definitely on the better side though and the ending was more than decent!
