The Music Thread Strikes Back

this track is really good. I listened to the first one you posted and wasn't sure about the drum beats, though having just listened again it seemed ok. I think that's a slower track though and I prefer this one which seems to have a more natural rhythm to it.

I know what you mean, I think its the hi-hats on the first tune, they seem a bit mechanical as I programmed using a keyboard, and didnt play live drums.

The tracks are all rough at the minute, but will be polished in time. Appreciate the feedback though!

New album out by the National today. On first listen it's probably their best since Boxer. Less restrained and more inventive and still with the best drums in "pop" music.

New Mogwai album is also pretty awesome.

Off to see Public Service Broadcasting tomorrow. First gig in a while so really looking forward to it.

Been told an early birthday present is going to see Sigur Ros this sunday in manchester!

I am stoked! Promptly got out Agaetis Byrjun last night, and it was the first time I'd listened in a while, but really really enjoyed it.
Wow, this should be good!

Sigur Ros were awesome! Challenging Mogwai for best band doing the quiet/loud thing. Their drummer was absolutely nuts. I felt sorry for his drum kit at the end.
Their next album is likely to be interesting.

Live music now accounts for almost 25% of UK music industry revenues, new figures reveal.
Concerts brought in £1 billion in 2016, over £300 million more than recorded music - which includes sales of CDs, vinyl, downloads and streaming.
In total, 30.9 million tickets were sold for concerts and festivals in 2016, up from 27.7 million in 2015.
But UK Music warned that the closure of small venues posed a threat to up-and-coming artists.

DDW only just noticed the tracks you've put up. I was away early sept, and it is busy time at work. If you post anything after the 1st week in oct, or give me a nudge I'll have a listen & give some feedback mate.

Hey, you've not got speakers at home then? :icon_wink:

I've got a new page up on Soundcloud

I've got 3 songs up so far, and working on another 3 at the moment. Gonna put them all on EP and make it available for free download soon. Really enjoying making music at my own pace and not being pressured to rehearse at specific times or have to work with singers!

I have (recently acquired cast offs from a mate - I think I just saved him a trip to the tip...), but I'm playing in 3 or 4 bowls matches per week (re-arranged games being fitted in before the end of the season).
What with everything else being neglected, that leaves 3 days to do a weeks worth of stuff.

I'll struggle to have any free time until week commencing 9 october, but then I'll be happy to have a proper listen.

Gojira, Nightwish, and Judas Priest will headline Bloodstock 2018.

Off to see The National tonight at the Hammy Odeon. Moist with excitement.

This could go in the annoy thread I guess, but this story sucks.

I went to see james at newmarket. It was great (the journey aside). The concert was fucking superb.
Overall, have to say I don't see why newmarket racecourse is seen to be so good in itself, as I really wasn't that impressed.

I would say that a lot of the crowd when I was there seemed to be arseholes, pissed, and quite disrespectful to other people. Great case in point where a fairly pretty girl in front had a fella she desperately tried to impress all night, yet he was a fucking arse the whole night and treated her like shit.

Anyways, as a result of bad behaviour, kids can't have any fun anymore it seems. That's a really poor show imo. Worse, as little mix are aimed at kids/teens ain't they?

This morning I have mostly been enjoying the lovely melancholy tones of King Creosote.
