The Music Thread Strikes Back

Listening to Jamie Lenman's (late of Reuben) double album. Hugely impressive; first CD is heavier than a heavy thing that's just put on a substantial amount of weight (think an older and better Mongol Horde) and the second is a lovely acoustic journey.

Rick Parfitt is recovering in a Turkish hospital having suffered a heart attack...

Cheers for the heads up - I will give that a listen. I still regularly revisit my Reuben collection. Massively underrated band and it was a shame to see them call it a day.

I only found it by accident when I was looking for something to get me free delivery from Amazon to be honest, I was looking for Racecar is Racecar Backwards originally. Very pleased that I bought it though, the first disc is monstrous, almost primal in its violence.

Wasn't it that Jamie had some unspecified health issues which meant they went on hiatus originally?

Micro and I are starting to write shit together. Got a couple of riffs so far but tomorrow is all day with the amps and see where we go. First impression is he is heavy is fuck. Mini Iommi.

Yeah, Jamie was burnt out. There's quite an interesting quote from him floating around the net, about spending 95% of the time with the band being negative about everything at it had just become a chore. He went away from music for a while and last I heard he was working for the Guardian (I think). I gave his solo stuff a listen over the weekend off the back of your post and it sounded quite interesting. I need to listen to it more but got distracted by the Chili Peppers new album!

Had Spotify on random walking back from the polling station and 'Don't Leave' by Faithless came on which made me chuckle.

So - as I'm bored - referendum playlist?

The Clash - Should I Stay Or Should I Go
The Faces - Stay With Me
The Animals - We Gotta Get Out of This Place
Sum 41 - Exit Song
Fleetwood Mac - Little Lies
Freddie Mercury - The Great Pretender
U2 - Stay

I'll probably think of more later.

Hothouse Flowers - Don't Go
Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes - Don't Leave Me This Way
Take That - Stay Together
Dobie Grey - The In Crowd
Patsy Cline - Leavin' On Your Mind
Mamas and Papas - All the leaves are Brown

Hopefully tomorrow morning:

Smokey Robinson - Tears of a Clown

A couple for the more strident Leavers

The Damned - Smash it Up
Orange Juice - Rip it Up and Start Again

After trying to understand a thread for a few weeks now, ' Never Mind The Bollocks ' comes to mind

bigmouth strikes again - the smiths
shut up - savages
bad penny - big black
keep an open mind, or else - mccarthy
everyone chooses sides - the wrens
kingdom of lies - folk implosion
the banana question - royal trux

The Beatles - Come Together
Radiohead - Exit Music (for a film)

Gomez - Free To Run (the country without the interfering unelected bureaucrats, socialist elite and African doctors)
