The Music Thread Strikes Back

Huh. Found out that Alice Glass walked out on Crystal Castles last December :(

Meanwhile, here's the new single and the remaining member (Ethan Kath) is having to ward off criticism regarding the vocals. People are saying it's either him or a computer voice rather than the credited "Edith".

Interesting.
The Pumpkins indeed played a great set. I was never really into them, but they were brilliant.
It was The Foos first UK show, and I was in that tent. There were people up the scaffolding, and it did get mental. Grohl threatened they'd have to leave, but had to backtrack on that threat very quickly.
carter were immense on the last night of that too. Weller was also brilliant, and Grren day were good. Blind melon and Soundgarden were really good. White Zombie were absolutely fucking awesome.

Really good review of Reading 95, didn't realise Pearl Jam played with Neil Young.

This was my first Reading. I seem to recall it was pretty $#@! from start to finish. Seeing the Quire Boys getting bottled off was quite amusing. Slept the weekend in my mate's old Datsun Sunny.

This was my last Reading which was an improvement.

Went to this was a great festival...
Janes Addiction cancelled a day or two before leaving many folks pissed off.
The Cramps were excellent as were the Pixies and the inspiral carpets had a lazer show during their set.
Buzzcocks had just reformed i think with Mike Joyce playing drums!
I was really into Loop but they just werent meant for a big stage in the late afternoon..
Mudhoney was mad but not as bad as Half Man Half Biscuit in the tent, some fella climbed up the metal support and jumped off
from a daft height....worse than any diving ive seen at an hardcore gig.

Can I still be an idiot if I go? :)

Never really heard anything by them. What they like?
Are they doing anywhere close enough to you?

Welll... Do you have a choice? :)

Surprised you don't really know them. You must have at least heard *of* All I Want For Christmas Is A Dukla Prague Away Kit? Trumpton Riots? Referee's Alphabet? Joy Division Oven Gloves?

I guess you'd call it folk-punk-poetry. Best lyrics ever. You Tube is your friend.

Edit: There's a London gig in October which I might be able to go to, but the bank account isn't looking too healthy at the moment and even though it's not far, London gigs are such a faff these days.

So, Shirley Manson turned 49 last week...

:icon_eek:

Just listened to "Cast the First Stone", the latest pre-released track from the upcoming Slayer album Repentless.

MEH.

Slayer by numbers, with a Gary Holt solo instead of a Hanneman one. Very very uninspiring.

I'm surprised you think that, the intro sounds nice and heavy, drums sound great.

Thought the solo was decent, lots of musicality in there instead of the usual Slayer wailing.

The solo is better because Gary Holt is a great player. The intro is something they have done a load of times. Rehash and not a fan at all.
