The Music Thread Strikes Back

Was watching a docu-series about the 60's and they did a featurette on The Hollies. Don't know the singer's name but man do I love his voice.

Cheers all, very much appreciated.

It would be a challenge to get 'that' tenacious D song onto the list!

Johnny, I will knock a few ideas together. Fortunately I have a similar taste.

A few more female voices:

Camera Obscura - French Navy
First Aid Kit - Emmylou
The Ronettes - Be My Baby
Dusty Springfield - The Look of Love
Nina Simone - Ain't Got No, I Got Life

No party playlist is complete in our house without Curtis Mayfield's Move On Up.

And St Germain's Tourist is a good shout from DDW.

That would probably be Allan Clarke or Graham Nash, later of Crosby, Stills and Nash.

Ben Kweller - either Thirteen or Falling
Death Cab For Cutie - Stay Young, Go Dancing
Whispertown2000 - Atlantis
Rocky Votolato - Before You Were Born
Josh Rouse - Love Vibration

Johnny, this is the playlist we had playing during the evening do (arrival at venue, milling around, eating etc.) aimed at being mainly background music. We had a more upbeat one for the post-meal dancefloor.

It's a combination of tunes I picked, the missus picked, meaningful tune, classics, and tracks picked by the guests - everyone was given a chance to request a tune along with their RSVP (via Google Forms :D )

We just stuck it on random for as long as it was needed.

Keep The Car Running - Arcade Fire
Compliments - Band of Horses
Something - The Beatles
Two of Us - The Beatles
In My Life - Beatles
Only Love - Ben Howard
Kepp Your Head Up - Ben Howard
Everlasting Light - The Black Keys
This Modern Love - Bloc Party
All I Really Want To Do - Bob Dylan
Skinny Love - Bon Iver
The High Road - Broken Bells
Oh Boy - Buddy Holly
Lovefool - The Cardigans
Coffee Spoon - Cold War Kids
Coconut Skins - Damien Rice
There Goes The Fear - Doves
Rehab - Down
Sun It Rises - Fleet Foxes
The Most Beautiful Girl (In The Room) - Flight Of The Conchords
Everlong - Foo Fighters
Olympian - Gene
Tanglin' - Gomez
See The World - Gomez
Airstream Driver - Gomez
Two Weeks - Grizzly Bear
Made Up Love Song #43 - Guillemots
Trains To Brazil - Guillemots
Full Circle - Half Moon Run
Everybody's Talkin' - Harry Nilsson
Summer Romance (Anti-Gravity Love Song) - Incubus
Better Together - Jack Johnson
Grace - Jeff Buckley
All Along The Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix
Fans - Kings Of Leon
Rambling Man - Laura Marling
The Cave - Mumford & Sons
5 Years Time - Noah And The Whale
Half Moon Street - Pete And The Pirates
Make My Heart - The Proclaimers
Yellow Sun - The Raconteurs
You Are The Best Thing - Ray Lamontagne
Elusive - Scott Matthews
Late In The Day
Grow Old With Me - Tom Odell
Pain Killer - Turin Brakes

We had a more sentimental playlist for the actual post-ceremony drinks at the wedding venue:

Getting Better - Gomez
Destiny - Zero 7
We Can Be Strong - Willy Mason
Mine Is Yours - Cold War Kids
Heartbeats - Jose Gonzalez
I Could Die For You - Red Chili Peppers
Trouble - Ray Lamontagne
Falling Slowly - Glen Hansard
Golden Lady - Stevie Wonder
White Winter Hymnal - Fleet Foxes

That's a cracking playlist, Mr Machin.

I still listen to it every now and again. Good times.

Falling by Ben Kweller is an excellent tune.

Has anyone heard the ew leftfield album yet? Think SLA mentioned it a while ago.
I know it won't be another Leftism, but wondering whether it is any good?

I could Die For You - not known by many but excellent RHCP track. Nice one Will. I also love Venice Queen off the By The Way album.

Give 'Incubus - Aqueous Transmission' a listen to for a chilled out song. According to the lead singer Brandon Boyd, they wanted to write a song that made you "pee your pants with relaxation".

It's a great track. Did you know that the instrument they used on it, I forget the name, was loaned to them by Steve Vai? #popfackt

A Pipa? It's a beautiful piece of music and the only one I'm aware of that has a minute of croaking frogs at the end of it :icon_lol:

Great shout, Jinx. Didn't know he helped write "Echo" and all.
