The Live Match Discussion Thread: 2019/2020

Another complete dive from Martial last night too.

As soon as they are in the box, someone is going over - if you watch for it, you see it, every single time.

Combine that with being in the box quite a bit and you get lots of penalties.

Refs have to start booking players for it, even retrospectively, it’s the only way to stop it. That and the media actually calling it out, rather than just the bullshit from last night about “he’s given the referee a decision to make”

It's easy for the ref to get conned at full speed and in real time. VAR really should be over-ruling nonsense like that though. But the rules don't let them. Clear and obvious error can be interpreted any way they like.

Ole says its because they get in the box a lot and their forwards are nippy. Fuck off

Yep the clear and obvious error is a load of rubbish, either re assess your decision at the pitch side monitor or whoever is running the VAR it should be a simple case of “do you think it’s penalty” or “do you think it’s a red card”
The clear and obvious is so vague, this creating a huge problem as I think officials are making calls or none calls on the proviso that VAR will dig them out the shit.

Frantic start between Barca and Bayern 1-1 but Barca could easily have had three.

Barca have turned into Reading under Jaap Stam inside their own half and Bayern are playing a ludicrously high line.

No matter though as Barcelona are defending like a bunch of amateurs. 3-1!

Barca badly need a decent revamp. Time up for too many now.

McManaman has beat me to the punch, it's very reminiscent of Brasil v Germany.

I do so love seeing Barcelona get pasted.

Too bad I can't watch this one because American television still doesn't care at all about soccer. Fuckwits.

As much as Barca have been the architects of their own downfall, I don't fancy City's defence against this lot (assuming they win tomorrow).

Threats from everywhere.

One of the talking heads here was calling this Bayern side the best he'd seen in over a decade. I don't know if that's true, but they're ridiculously good.

I think absolute peak Robben/Ribéry/Lewa (2014 or so) was probably better. Just. Alonso and Lahm were still there then too, and Neuer was a notch up from what he is now. But Pep rarely if ever had them looking this good in Europe. They've just been smashing teams for fun.

Bayern not happy with no injury time by the looks, obviously wanted to get another before halftime.

Quite how there is no injury time when there's been five goals is beyond me.

Please, mate, I can't stand any more adult content at the moment.

Christ, Jordi Alba is a prick. Not that this is breaking news of course.
