I’ve never understood why Boothroyd has that job, he’s always been a bit of a dinosaur from what I’ve seen, long ball tactics and not exactly playing to the strengths of the technical ability our youngsters now have. There must be a better option.

Bothroyd is classic case of a bad manager being carried by good players, similar to Di Mateo at Chelsea. England breezed through qualifiers because of week opposition and the players he had available.
Thinking back to the semi final v Germany 2 years ago he employed some very archaic tactics when we were 1-0 up there.

Good article YW. How are John Beck and Andy Boothroyd involved in our coaching and youth football set ups?

Baffling that such shithuouse coaches can be anywhere near such positions of responsibility.

Wasn’t Beck manager of that Cambridge side of early 90’s that enjoyed kicking lumps of players. Also use make sure the grass was longer in the corners at the abbey stadium and made sure the heating was on full blast in the away dressing room.

And cold showers for the opposition. He played the longest of long balls and was generally a fucking arsehole.

Remember being in the south bank at the back end of the 91-92 season when we beat them 2-1 and it was awful especially for his sides antics seems very similar to the likes of Graham Westley and Gary Johnson.

I think that's harsh. Its all true though! They had four signs , one in each corner saying quality and the idea was to get it across to the wingers then into the box for Dublin or Taylor to score. They were very direct, route one with Lee Philpott on the left Cheetham on the right with Dion Dublin and John Taylor in the middle. Beck took them to the then division one now premier league playoffs where they lost to Leicester. Liam Daish at centre back who got capped for Eire and John Filan in goal. Several of those players played in the premier league after Cambridge. They basically played 4 2 4. Got to the cup quarter final v palace too. They were halcyon days for Cambridge, but they were not undisciplined lump kickers. They were a route one team that played to the strengths of a limited squad and limited manager tactically.

I was there when Cambridge won at Molineux. Working. Went home depressed!

England looking very good against Cameroon. Decent game so far.

No idea why Neville is pretending to be a Shelby though.

England did well with the indirect free kick in the area which they scored from following the Cameroon back pass. Dirty swine spat on the England players arm too

Fuck me Cameroon, learn the offside law you clowns

Cameroon are proper old school nutters. Good on them.

England are all over the shop here.

Descending into farce, players crying and accusations of racism over simple decisions. Ridiculous scenes!

To be fair I'd imagine the refereeing they see in Cameroon is probably appalling and corrupt so they expect to see the same here.

The Cameroon coach has zero authority over the side, completely ignored before half time when they were spitting their dummy out.

The push on the ref didn't look entirely innocent.
