The Live Match Discussion Thread: 2019/2020

At this rate there will be about 15 minutes of injury time!

Sounds like Cameroon are a complete disgrace.

Deplorable behaviour from the Cameroon team.

Alex Scott blaming the referee is shocking too, she should be binned for that. Nothing to do with the referee, players have a responsibility to act professionally on the pitch.

Really appalling behaviour - I didn’t catch all of it but the bits I did were farcical. They ruined what could/should have been a pretty good game

Ref did lose control very quickly but it’s no excuse at all for their behaviour - they were beyond control really

Absolutely appalling behaviour and let’s be fair the ref was kind to them, should have been down to 9 players and England could have had a penalty.
Obviously the ref wanted to just get out of there at the s because that’s as blatant a red card as you’ll see on steff Houghton.

Absolutely atrocious from Cameroon, and I’m with Alex about the refereeing too- absolutely no authority over the match.

The ref was really weak, but what ref goes into a match expecting that kind of behaviour?

On to the VAR. I'm happy with the delays if it means getting the decisions correct.

So this VAR bollocks and the folks in the studio.
They decided it was a goal but they dont decide it was a Penalty for England?
They decide it was offside but they dont decide if a player should be sent off?

Seems strange to let the ref decide some, just decide the lot and tell the ref to implement it.

Gonna ruin many games next season, the delaying in giving offsides is soooooooooo farcical.

Did VAR check the back pass? Seemed much more like a mis-control than an actual back pass.

VAR shocker in France v Brazil.

Keeper had a mare coming for a cross, just sort of pushed it into the French player that was attacking it and then the ball looped over into the net as they came together. Ref eventually goes over to review it after both players receive some medical attention and somehow determines it to be a foul, ball clearly left the keepers hands before any contact with the French player, she didn't have it under control.

That's just down to the referee rather than the technology though, terrible call, who knows if she'd have let it slide or immediately called it back for a foul without the technology.

Much like a huge proportion of the players aren't professional, the officials aren't either. So you get amateur decisions, regardless of technology. They haven't been trained properly and they don't have anything like the experience you would want in what is supposed to be the pinnacle of the game.

VAR used correctly now.

Brazil equalised but was flagged for offside, checked with VAR and flag was wrong so goal stands.

France won't be happy though as the goal came straight from a Brazil goal kick which should've been a corner. Shot came off a French attacker but then took a second touch off one of the defenders that wasn't stopped. If they don't go through they've got plenty of ammunition to throw at the officials.

I've quite enjoyed this game as it's a lot faster and crisper than the shambles this afternoon.

The Brazil 11 that just injured herself taking a shot from the halfway line got a bollocking from her team mate and has had to go off.

All the reviews in the England game were correct.

Penalty should have been awarded to England but the ref only saw one angle of it ...which was strange.
Had she seen the closer views she may have given it.
And clearly, the elbow didn't even go to var or she would have walked.
Spitting must not have been reviewed and that tackle at the end could have been a red too.
