The Live Match Discussion Thread: 2019/2020

Getting back on point, re: the goalkeepers feet on the line, my understanding was that prior to the new rule change, both feet had to be on (or above) the line, but now only one is.
Was it previously the case you could stand behind the line, because this is used as a criticism of the new rule?
I'm not entirely sure how starting behind the line is better than being allowed one foot forward of the line?
And with the new rule, you can have one foot behind anyway?

Sweden's keeper doesn't have any issues breaking the halfway line.

Great effort by the keeper, diving full length to try to save the shot... Oh, wait

Nice one Aidy lad leave your best player on the bench and create very little first half then bring him on by default all of a sudden we look far more creative.
His subs the other night we’re baffling his team selection tonight defies logic. England were favourites for this and are now out after just 4 days.

Boothroyd is a shockingly poor coach and manager and he's done now. I hope he hasn't wasted the talent at his disposal and also hope Southgate has learnt that the U21 defenders aren't very good at the moment so we need better options at the back.

Boothroyd should have been nowhere near our under 21 team in the first place. It's bizarre that we would have such a poor manager in charge of developing our young players.

It’s not even the fact that he’s got a really poor record since his first season at Watford but that his “style” is so far removed from what the FA want from the England teams.

Agree regarding the defenders Johnny, none of the ones selected in this tournament convince me that they will be important England players of the future (maybe Kelly, but he didn’t even play) For all the hype around Wan-Bissaka, I think there are several right back options who will go onto be better - Aarons, James and we already have Trent.

He’ll be sacked the moment he gets back home if the FA have got any clue.
Usually when a team bombs in a tournament it’s down to numerous factors players being below standard, poor management and preparation.
Don’t think I’ve seen a side fail and the emphasis be so much on the coaches ineptitude.
The only thing he’s got in his favour is individual errors, Choudhury and AWB in game one and Tomri and Henderson in game 2.
Anybody with an ounce of a football brain will have been baffled by today’s team selection. must win game and you leave your most creative player out. Foden was only bought on by default had Sessenong not got injured he wouldn’t have come on until later.
