The January 2025 Transfer Thread

I think I read that his previous club Feirense owns 50% of his registration. Could be why Mendes is involved as that sort of negotiation is probably above Hobbs' pay/intelligence grade.

That's just the continental way of saying sell on clause, it doesn't need a negotiation at our end

You end up with £13m+ flowing out of the club in "agent fees" in a year where we hardly signed anyone of note.

Your best players will only ever be here until he says so.

He will send you some awful, awful, awful shite along the way and it's not cheap either. We paid over £60m for Fabio Silva and Gonçalo Guedes who in terms of what they've given Wolves, aren't worth 10% of that.

It's his fault I had to sit through Bruno Lage's football.

He's not the devil incarnate but he causes issues. Ultimately as a Premier League club who've been here since 2018, we shouldn't be reliant on him (again). We are because the man who runs the club is a fucking idiot who knows nothing about football and no-one above him cares.

Yeah that misses the point. He's Jota, Neves, Patricio etcs agent, he isn't this guys or MGWs or Cunha's we just pay him an extortionate amount because we don't employ competent people to do it internally costing the club (but probably not Fosun) millions.

Loads of clubs (mainly in Spain/Portugal) seem to employ him or his company to get deals over the line.
His book of elite players may be shrinking but he knows how to drain money from every angle.

Admittedly, he’s probably a manipulative arsehole who is clearly only in it for his own benefit.
And agreed, he has royally ripped us off on lots of occasions - trust me, literally no one despises Fabio Silva (the person and player) more than I do.

But, in business, most things have a price.

My point, however badly made, was that most of our recent success would not have been possible without his involvement.

The clubs clear incompetence, aside.
 
Money is irrelevant though, Fosun will spend it if they choose to and won't if they don't. It won't be get £40m, spend £40m. I agree he's been inconsistent/disappointing this season, but we are still better with him than without him. I'd be waiting until the Summer.

We would never have got promoted like we did, then had our back to back 7ths without him. However it’s one of those where it had got us as far as we were going to go with it, and hampered us thereafter
 
According to Judah, Manu will play predomitably as a midfielder and we are still looking for another CB. Doesn't mention sources but he usually only posts stuff from the club?
