The January 2025 Transfer Thread

I’m sure I caught a bit of the press conference in which Vitor was talking about the need for an extra midfielder - ‘an athlete’ - who could cover some mileage. Pretty sure he said something about him not needing to be tall?! Anyway, sounded like a direct request, but TBH I missed the question so could have got this out of context.

Let's just hope we use him better than we used the donk

Not sure about that.

The Donk was outstanding for us, really. An important part of our super squad.

Very much like Saiss in that he always came in, did a job and, what he lacked in talent, he made up for in work ethic.

We could do with a few more of them now.

Yeah, he was just used in the wrong way towards the end of his time here. I was pretty fed up with him by the end of it but he was a key part of the best Wolves side I've ever seen.

Ansu Fati expected to leave Barca on loan in Jan. Be amazed if our name isn't linked before the end of the month.

Anyone checked in on @Dire Wolf to see if he’s ok. The last few comments about Donck will give him a coronary.

When Lage started using him as an attack prevention officer running out wide to the right was just bizarre. Felt sorry for him for what he was being asked to do. I’d have him in our back 3 now in a heartbeat.

Donck doing the same bizarre channel run down the right 50 times a game and Marçal killing every single attack stone dead on the left.

What a time to be alive.

Marcal was amazing. The only Brazilian footballer with less skill on the ball than Matt Doherty.

Managers are so weird. I remember him doing it away at Brentford (the drone match) and we scored 2 really good goals from the space he created, that doesn't mean that you have to ask him to do it in every single game after that though. I don't think it ever worked again.

Looks a good fit to be fair, and think he’ll be more suited as a CH initially based on his profile, who could be pushed into a DM if and when Mosquera is back

It doesn’t mention how quick he is, which is the key thing for me in the Prem but seems like he has the physical attributes

Hope it comes off as it’ll be interesting,

….and he’s a young handsome fella, don’t want any of those Cole Palmer, Antony Gordon, Haarland levels of ugliness in the squad😁
I’ve been a terrible influence haven’t I

He was great from when he broke into the team until the end of the following season but after that played like he had lead in his boots most of the time. If you look at this career since he's been crap at Villa and couldn't get a look-in at Napoli. Think Nuno managed to utilise his limited skillset well, although did give him a pretty thankless task in 20/21 as did Lage afterwards.

Dendoncker was immense in those two wins over Man U, and easy to forget we lasted >three months without Boly in 19/20 with a pretty heavy fixture list and Donck stepped in admirably.

If anyone describes Donk as an athlete I'll challenge them to an old fashioned pistols at dawn duel for the insult to athletes. He ran like he was holding in a shit.
Agreed. He had a strange gait. His legs were going but his top half remained still. Like a human camera gimbal.
