The January 2025 Transfer Thread

First part of his playing style is essentially the full scouting report put in front of Hobbs

I'm all for going back on the Portuguese boat, served us well (don't mention Fabio)

Agreed, desperate times call for desperate measures.

I’m up for as many Mendes backhand, shady Portuguese internationals as possible.

I’ll even take a couple more Brazilians.

Thanks Uncle Jorge.

I read the 'potential' section in clarksons voice. "Some say ..."

Looks a good fit to be fair, and think he’ll be more suited as a CH initially based on his profile, who could be pushed into a DM if and when Mosquera is back

It doesn’t mention how quick he is, which is the key thing for me in the Prem but seems like he has the physical attributes

Hope it comes off as it’ll be interesting,

….and he’s a young handsome fella, don’t want any of those Cole Palmer, Antony Gordon, Haarland levels of ugliness in the squad😁

Sounds a bit like a new Saiss (not sure which side he prefers) which would make me very happy.

Manu has been a bit of a surprise the last year. Rui Borges moved him from CB to playing in a double pivot and he's been a revelation. Very calm on the ball and will add some much needed physicality to our squad.

Are we going to sell this as "Vitor wanted a defender and a midfielder so we got him both in one player"

He's not really a defender. He used to play there obviously but at Liga 2 level.

He's one of the rare Portuguese talents that didn't come through a big academy, it was the move to midfield which unlocked his potential.

Like that will stop Hobbs banging the multi position drum

It'd be the equivalent of someone buying Conor Cody in 19/20 to play him as a box-to-box midfielder.

If we signed him during that period can guarantee the interview with Hobbs he would say "whilst arriving to play in the back 3 he does come with the ability to cover both central midfield and right back. He is the kind of versatile player we are always on the look out for"
