The January 2025 Transfer Thread

He's not good enough and in any other situation we should definitely be considering any incoming offers but I'd be terrified about what the plan is if we lose Doyle & Lemina in the same window.
*checks Academy for kids not ready for L2 football but ready for the PL*

I think you guys need a good Defensive Middfield. That tippical midfiel know how defense, and how cover the defense if they need go to wings.

In 1 hour, spanish cup: Madrid-Celta. 😵

Doyle has an eye for a pass but he’s far too lightweight to play in a midfield two so I wouldn’t be sad to see him go, but only if we bring in a replacement. Traore and perhaps Bellegarde could fill in in an emergency but I wouldn’t want either as first off the bench if Andre or Gomes aren’t playing.

I’m d take Tommy Doyle over Traore and JRB, every day of the week.

All the chatter before the window opened of "research" and "we have players in mind" and "the manager will be helped" and "the recruitment team are constantly working behind the scenes" etc etc. It's just the same story every window isn't it?

Obviously there will be those that say the same thing they say every window - "you have to wait until the end of the window to judge" - "we all know January is hard to do business" - but we're over half way through the month and have added one player. We all know how this ends.

It's frustrating for sure , but when you take a step back from it all it makes sense . No club will agree to sell/loan a player unless they have a replacement lined up in most cases . That therefore delays matters with clubs failing to agree terms at the outset and dragging things out .
They all know that they have until the end of the month . If you are selling to a struggling club then you know they are desperate , so you'll insist on the highest price knowing full well that they will hand over that price as the deadline looms , but will search in vain for better options up until that point .
Agents have a key role too , putting the word out that a player might leave - which might not be true , but unsettles the market , when all that is happening is said player looking for a better deal from their existing club .

Should we have windows though ?

Why can't clubs just buy and sell throughout the season while still obeying whatever FFP rules are still there .

Honestly feels right now that we could actually end up with a net outflow of players this window.

Which, for a side facing relegation seems suboptimal

If we can persuade anyone to take any of this shite and pay us for the privilege I would be delighted tbh. Never want to watch any of them in a gold shirt ever again.

Johnstone
Bentley
Doherty
S Bueno
Dawson*
Lemina*
Cundle
Hodge
Bellegarde
Sarabia
Forbs
Hwang
Guedes
Fabio

*These were good but they aren't now and won't be again for Wolves

Totally agree with all this.

If we’re being uber harsh, I’d probably add Bouba to this list.

Not much left if they all disappear though, admittedly.

Vitor
-Wants 2 players
- Def wants a midfielder and maybe a defender
- Likes the squad but needs more solutions
- Hope we sign new players
- If we cant get what we want better to sign no one.

Like a whole window of transfer updates in one sitting and that obviously ends with the shared depression.

Not wishing to be a prick, but how are you surprised by this? :)

Ah good we've moved onto the next chapter of the Wolves transfer window saga.

In the Winter window 22/23 we signed:

Cunha - 25 December
Lemina - 13 Jan
Sarabia - 17 Jan
Dawson - 22 Jan
Bentley - 25 Jan
J Gomes - 30 Jan

So we had signed three by now.
