The January 2025 Transfer Thread

It is interesting that one of the biggest unconscious racial tropes of the last 20 years was used on here earlier without being picked up. I'm not going there, but it does play to whoever it was who said sometimes it's as much about who posts it as what they post.
I either missed it or it went right over my head. Really not interested in playing favorites in that way.

Signs it's been a decent transfer window when we all start taking lumps out of each other rather than Jeff and Hobbs 😅

We can't play Matt Doherty in the Premier League in 2025 because he turns like milk and isn't a very good defender and never has been.

Having one good game (he did play well on Saturday) does not change any of that. I have seen Steve Corica boss a game in the past. His basic inherent failings meant we conceded a goal vs Forest at the end of the first half that totally killed a good team performance and we lost. He is not very good.

It isn't just a Wolves thing either, for a while Spurs fans couldn't believe what the hell they'd paid for (they mellowed towards him later on, not sure why as he was shit and they ended up throwing away a £15m player for free) and Ireland fans hate him.

That’s the goal I was referring to earlier when he got dragged out in to the RB position.

I love the way you have to go back 30 years for the first example that pops into your head.

Look, it's clearly not bullshit. It happens, there have been multiple studies confirming this. You not liking it, not understanding it, or not agreeing with it doesn't make it any less true. As I said, obviously there are many black players that you can describe as skillfull and intelligent - but it is a fact that physical attributes are talked about more often with black players than white players, often ahead of the other things that they bring to the table.

Saying Marco Guehi is quick and strong isn't racist. But race does contribute to the fact that Guehi will be described is quick and strong, whereas John Stones is classy and intelligent
I'm just thinking back to the Uni football team I played in. I've picked that team because the town I grew up in was very white, probably only had two black teammates through my entire school/college "career".

Anyway back to the Uni team where half the team were black (and a couple of Asians). Every black player in the team was quick and strong - I can think of only one who was slower than a couple of whities (I can call them that - I'm a whitie myself).

I'm not sure what my point is, but I know I couldn't describe our 6ft+ white CB's as quick, although they were strong.

I'm just racking my brain for black Wolves players who were neither quick or strong... Ince I guess wouldn't be described as such, he'd be tenacious yet cultured. Olofinjana was certainly not quick but definitely strong (despite getting out muscled frequently). George Ndah, not strong, rapid as fuck though.

Mark Rankine

I've literally just seen Tawanda Chirewa described as 'pacey' and 'quick' by Wolves fans on Reddit. He might be the slowest winger I've ever seen.

Really?
Helan, Ricketts, Pennant, (the Wolves version), Corica if aboriginal counts, come to mind straight away. They'll be numerous others if I could be bothered to think about it
