The January 2024 "Will we actually sign a striker or just Che Adams/Kieffer Moore" Transfer Thread

I'd assume we'd be in for someone completely new given what we said about targeting a striker that had been thoroughly scouted.

Maybe. I thought that comment was moreso why we didn't move to another target when our bid got rejected?

I'm not a fan of the way he's allegedly handled things, we gave Nunes stick for similar. Wouldn't want someone with those kind of morals playing here.

He suffers from the 'no goals/no assists' syndrome but from my perspective he's really good at pressing and excellent dead ball delivery.
We just need more in the Premier league so if we get a decent offer in January, let him go.
He's someone who should excel against the poorer teams in the league if used correctly. It shouldn't really be this hard to fit him in, he's had an excellent career at a very high level.

Yeah I wouldn't want him here now either. He was clearly a fair way down the wish list anyway after the moves for Retegui, Adams etc didn't work out. Maybe there wasn't any other options after him?

Think that's bang on the money. If only there was another peak Jimenez knocking about somewhere. He was so perfect for the way we play.

I like him, but really can't see where he plays for us. Shame really as he has a lot quality, perhaps needs a slower paced league to excel.

Sarabia has been here for almost a year and I still don't know where he plays.

Bags of technical ability but I don't see it happening here. We should find a taker, he was in the Spain World Cup squad 10 months ago.
He's 31, we know where he plays. It's whether we have room for that kind of player or not.

If O'Neil wants to 'do a bit of everything' then we can't afford to throw a player like him away, especially one that's apparently a key part of the leadership in a squad prone to dramatic collapses and long spells of atrocious form.

And the rumours of Arsenal being in for Neto are back up and running and they want him in January.
Not sure how they afford him as they had to do a special deal with Brentford for Raya as they couldn't afford to put his fee through this summer due to FFP.

Going to see him linked to a whole host of clubs with the form he is in.
They already have Saka, Martinelli, Trossard, Smith-Rowe and Nelson to play in those wide positions (Jesus prefers to play wide too) so they'd need to offload at least two of those before coming in for Pedro.

Granted there'll be others interested too.

Understand Wolves wanted to sign Toulouse talented GK Guillaume Restes (2005) - approaches rejected in the summer but he's one to watch

France U21 GK has 4 clean sheets in 11 games this season, playing in Ligue1 and Europa League but also with U21 under Thierry Henry.

Edit: Didn't read Lupo's post

Interesting one. Wonder if we'll go back in for him now we've given Sá a big stupid contract.

No reason we won't go back for him. Other than maybe another striker we've sorted every other area of concern in the summer. Striker and GK will be top of the list in January and next summer respectively I'd imagine.

If we stay with 3 at the back we need another CB.

Dawson, Bueno, Kilman, Toti isn't enough in terms of quality and Dawson is likely coming to the end of his career.

Need another RB too, broken Jonny and rubbish Doherty are not proper options.

I suppose Mosquera could come into the fold at CH in January.

Mind you, guess that proves the point!
