The January 2024 "Will we actually sign a striker or just Che Adams/Kieffer Moore" Transfer Thread

Eh?

It's an opinion?

Before Raul got injured Fabio was getting the odd minute but was on the bench, as soon as Raul got injured Fabio was starting, this is a very likely outcome with Fraser if Cunha and/or Hwang get injured.
You said we weren't bringing Sasa on because we had better alternatives, no we didn't.

He wasn't filling any role because there were literally no circumstances in which O'Neil was using him.

Have to say the fact that we've offloaded Jonny, Silva & Kalajdzic's wages (not an insignificant amount there), still have to load the enormous €2M fee for Noah Lemina onto next year's accounts and are willing to play an entire half season of Premier League football with basically no back up in multiple positions doesn't bode well for this supposed loosening of the purse strings in the summer.

I’d argue that Gary has already shown he prefers Fraser to a Bundesliga vet in Saša.

A loan is beyond Nathan at this stage. He seems ready to contribute, IMO.

Fraser will barely play, for the same reasons as with Kalajdzic. He'll struggle to lead a press from the front.

The only time we'll see Fraser is late in a game if we're chasing it and we want a physical presence to disrupt centre halves.

FWIW, we’ll end up with Broja on loan with an option in the summer. No insider knowledge or anything, just what I think will happen

Look at our form in the games he didn't come on, we won those games, that's why.

Your argument doesn't really stand up to scrutiny, he started v Sheff Utd, 30 mins v Fulham, came on v Forest and Arsenal, all games we didn't win. He did use him to roll the dice.

If we were to hit poor form again he'd have used him again.

For a lad his age, at this level, I’d call that a worthy contribution.

He's 18 and has played a grand total of 170 minutes of men's football in his entire life. He needs half a season in League One and a season in the Championship if we want him to develop properly

For him personally, of course. We need more than that as a club though. We can't keep running these forwards into the ground and expect them to produce at the same level as they are.

But O'Neil had given up on him, quite clearly.

Only an injury time sub against Forest despite them barely having an attack all second half and it was 1-1, unused against West Ham when we were losing and going nowhere, unused against Chelsea when we were trying to see out a narrow lead, unused against Brentford and Everton when winning easily and we could have rested first choice players in a hectic schedule.

Five straight unused sub appearances, I don't know how much clearer it has to be.

Unless you're an absolute freak like Rooney, Foden or Saka, you don't just go from academy football to Premier League option
I don’t recall a clamor to send 19 year old Neto out on loan first. Hadn’t exactly been seasoned by Lazio.

#playthekids

I’ll bow out, clearly on my own here.

Kane was loaned out multiple times, Toney came through lower leagues as did Wilson, Solanke was shite for ages and even Haaland earned his stripes at a lower level.

I find it nuts that people think Fraser could be ready now.

It's on the shithouse chairman and his finance wanker to make sure the squad is adequately stocked and can constantly improve. Sadly the fucking failures don't care. So we run Cunha into the ground and stunt Fraser's growth all while a push for Europe is a possibility. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
