The January 2024 "Will we actually sign a striker or just Che Adams/Kieffer Moore" Transfer Thread

About 10-11 goals a season about right for a club in mid table

Dunno if I'm reading the stats right, about a goal every 3-4 games? Probably our area or is that too simplistic?
Roughly every 4, yeah. Those numbers suggest he fits the mold of a pressing forward who can help progress attacks.

Key word: suggest.

Alarmed by the amount of “highlights” clips when searching his name on Twitter

I know it's a showreel / best of, but i'd sign him in a heartbeat.
I also don't believe we just spotted him yesterday. Hobbs mob do good work, and we've got a couple of south americans in the ranks that will have seen him play, and maybe come up against him.
He's got a bit of bully about him. 🤔

That seems a theme with a lot of players in that league. Think people just throw a bunch of dudes at the wall and hope they can later say "see? I told you he'd make it".

Unless you mean like that old vid of Zubar's various fuckups for Marseille.

Yeah but these highlights are like when we signed Zubar…

Except he got those numbers in a much poorer league than the PL. They never directly translate. But Raul didn't have a great goal record before he joined so it's not the be all and end all.

He would have been the next name in the queue after the Ekitike deal fell through. Frankfurt clearly offered bigger wages or bigger optional fee than we were willing to do.

Serious Raul vibes here  🤌
I know it's hard to judge based on a compilation of only the best things he's ever done. But there's plenty of positive signs from him there.

Looks to have plenty of determination, good awareness, and a very decent first touch.

18m?? Yeesh. Not an obligation at least.

Tim Vickery says he's quick, mobile and likes to play on the shoulder of the last man. Came back from Zenit where he was decent because of the war amd was expected to go to THE MLS. Worth a punt (his words)
