The Incoming Transfers Everywhere Thread: Summer 2023

Yeah, the fact that he hasn’t signed elsewhere yet is a concern, so to speak.

Maybe he’ll sign on with Miami to play opposite Messi. 😂

He’ll end up in the Saudi league.

I haven’t seen a “Adama leaves Wolves” announcement, unless I missed it, so I assumed we were still trying.
I thought that was strange also. I guess there’s a video montage in the can ready to be issued to social media though.

I suppose if there’s a standing offer he might sign it makes sense. Although not sure how I feel about potentially retaining a player who is clearly looking for better offers.

I read that the Premier League agreed new FFP rules late last year which inciude a cap on transfer fees, agents' fess and players' fees at 70% of revenue. I have a couple of questions that I'm hoping the FFP experts on here can clarify>

When do these new rules come into affect?

Are transfer fees amortised over the life of players' contracts for this calculation or is it the whole "headline" fee?

Thanks, I re-read the Sky article and saw the percentage will be above 70 per cent in the Premier League though the actual percentage is being kept secret.

Have these new rules been introduced yet?

If things don't make sense transfer wise (they dont) then I think the simple explanation is Hobbs and Lop don't have the influence in making decisions there that we would think they do. If FFP was a real issue it'd have been put to bed when Neves left. An 18M signing isn't failing because a 5M departure hasn't happened yet either.

Appreciate people want to be optimistic for their club but relying on a lot of players from last season to suddenly play out of their skins is a huge gamble. Some might, but the more players you add into the mix that you're relying on to step up, the riskier it gets.

Also players coming in aren't necessary going to start having an immediate impact that we want, certainly didn't happen last season for a lot of players people are expecting will improve now. The more last minute the signing like most of our summer transfers recently, then the more catch up is being played.

The only thing stopping this team being in the relegation scrap again is Lop being here. There's no goals in the forward half and the defence relies on our oldest player and an eccentric goalie.

Clearing out deadwood is good, but you dont do that just to tread water. We'll see what happens, but the longer it takes to bring in first team xi signings the less likely we'll have good season.

I would be wary of reading 100% accuracy into the Romano tweet. Retegui plays for Tigre but he is on loan there. His registration is owned by Boca.

I've seen a lot of fans absolutely furious with the amount of outgoings. For me, it's not so much the number, as (bar Neves) the majority of the players we've let go, shouldn't be in/around the starting 11 anyway. I think where I start to edge towards their way of thinking is that I would have liked to have seen some incomings by now. In fact, I'm starting to get concerned by the lack of incomings. We've generated a lot of funds. I know we can't go out and spend all the money we've raised in sales, but we should have got at least one big target (Scott?) over the line.

The season is less than 3 weeks away. We are off to Portugal this week so whoever we do bring in at this point is going to get no bedding in time with the squad in pre-season again. They just never, ever seem to learn.

Like others, I'm also completely miffed by the FFP stuff. Are any other clubs running this line? It seems to literally be us that's affected by it.

Newcastle are. Actively briefing that Saint-Maximin needs to go for instance.

Everton will end up spending very little as they're boned.

Palace as well.

Forest won't say anything publicly but they've put themselves in a ridiculous position with their 'business' last season.

The thing that thickos like me don't understand is how Guardiola can seemingly spend what he likes on players to have them sit on the bench for most of the season.
