It was the whole "headsgone" thing. He didn't handle it well, fans didn't like his honest!
I never ever expected him to stay, it would have been ludicrous. Proven PL player staying in the Championship at the peak of his ability, when he has no actual ties to the club? I don't think so.

Kightly hurt because he made some ill-advised comments in March/April when we were obviously going down that indicated he'd stick it out, and also because of the whole journey he and we had been on together, but understandable. Again, cartoon hate.

I was fuming about Kightly at the time. Now I'm the opposite and can't see why people get worked up, it's a job for them.

Apparently Elvedi and Cresswell are “Likely”. But I think that’s already been clear

Don`t see the point in making season predictions until the transfer window shuts. If I had to make a prediction based on what we have at the Club ATM I would say we were heading for a season long relegation fight. I`m basing that on the fact that we need serious reinforcements, I.E. a striker and CB. Still too much deadwood at the Club.

We won’t be relegated, I’m going for 11th.

I don't think we'd be relegated, but we'd certainly be in the conversation for a long while if we went into the season with no further additions than Cresswell and Elvedi.

My gut says that if we're letting Chiqi go on loan, we're seriously looking at someone else in that position to bring in.

Got to be 2 or 3 forwards in the pipeline with Chiquinho going out on loan, Adama going.

Maybe Lopetegui doesn't think Chiqi is up to the job.

Entirely possible. Either way, it's one less option out wide and I think most of us agree we need some fresh options out there. I'm hoping the club see it that way, too.

Doc, Cresswell, Elvedi, a new winger, and a new striker would be a decent, if unspectacular window (unless they really pull off something shocking with one of the other incomings).

Well plenty seem to think Lopetegui is the bee's knees and did brilliantly since he took over. Personally having seen most of the games (albeit online or on TV) I have no clue as to what our gameplan is, what everyone is supposed to be doing, what shape we have or any pattern to the play.
Our transfers in and out since his arrival seem to be totally random to me. We've signed some good players and some crap ones, we've sold some good players and some crap ones.
In my mind the jury is still out.
I'm hoping there is some grand plan and we will have an identity to the way we play.
Equally I wouldn't be surprised if it's a total shambles and Lopetegui's gone by Christmas.
I really have no clue as to how the season will go.
Does anyone else feel the same?

Last thing we need to do is lose our nerve. Give the man a chance, there are 3 worse sides than us IMO.

I think JL was talking about converting RAN into a forward player, I might have dreamt it though

The only thing that was on the agenda when he took over was getting as many points as possible given that we were definitely on our way down at that point on 10 points. If we are still having the same conversations at the end of this season, where we see completely random line ups and no pattern of play then it's probably fair enough to have those conversations but he did do an excellent job last season. I thought we were buried and didn't know where we'd get our next win from.
