The Incoming Transfers Everywhere Thread: Summer 2023

Knows the league, is English, could drop straight in, cheap.

Allows us the reassess the situation in the summer where we can keep him as 3rd choice and he’d be happy with that.

Alternatively you go for Felipe who ticks less of those boxes, hasn’t played for months and probably isn’t better anyway.

I’d love us to sign some elite CB for £30m but they probably aren’t on the move in January, would have elements of risks/settling if from a foreign country (no one in England is selling us one) and we’re not really in that place in such a crucial position
I’m ok with it, would rather have Boly though tbh

It's probably heresy but surprised no-one has gone for Maquire on a loan deal.

He's on absolutely ridiculous money. Don't think he's that fussed about seeing the season out on the fringes either, not going to impact on his England place, we already know that.

Saiss is the annoying one.

I can see the logic behind Coady (only really works in one style of play that we were trying to move on from), and Boly just isn't reliable enough from a fitness perspective, but to get rid of all of them when Saiss could still do a job week-in, week-out (and was a decent goal threat too), as well as clearly a great guy in the dressing room, was short-sighted as fuck

Blame Lage for that I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Was actually thinking it this morning that he’d have probabably played a fair amount of games this year given how it’s all panned out.

Everyone *wants* it to work, why would you want your own team to fail. I can't really blame people for having blind faith, after all at heart it's why we all do what we do. Objectively though he outed himself fairly early on as inept and weird.

It wasn't for footballing reasons. Getting rid of the likes of Saiss, Coady, Ruddy that were all big voices in the dressing room was intended to quell any disquiet towards Brune the Loon amongst the playing staff.

I'm pretty sure Saiss said himself that Lage wanted to keep him but we made a pretty insulting contract offer to him and that was that. I'm all for blaming the moron but this one's on Shi.

I think we got a dose of what Fulham fans must have felt when Felix Magath pitched up

Quälix was actually a decent manager once upon a time, obviously a stellar playing career too so he had veritas and standing about him, just a completely off the scale nutbar.

Lage had nothing about him at all. It's on the scale of Charlton appointing Les Reed.

On the downgrade scale I'd consider Blues going voluntarily directly from Rowett to Zola comparable.

Although as an addendum; while I can't blame blind faith, people arguing black was white was really fucking annoying. We are shit, look at us. Look at the bloody results for months and months. Listen to his witless nonsense and pidgin English. Watch him continually throwing players under the bus. Look at how we always, always, always lose if we concede first and how you may as well give up immediately.

He got backed right to the very bitter end by a LOT of people for reasons I cannot fathom. Far better and far more likeable Wolves managers have been hounded out for far less.
