The Incoming Transfers Everywhere Thread: Summer 2023

After last 3 signings kinda disappointed that Dawson is the best available home-grown cb we can find this window.

Was there any smoke to that Souttar rumour? One for summer maybe, like Alex Scott.

He's not furious, it's just newspaper sensationalism. The wider quote, that I can find at least, clearly reads as if he thinks the bit is fair game and his comment is made as a joke

Assume that’s the London equivalent of the Birmingham Mail. Completely unreadable due to the number of pop ups.

That's the wrong order surely. I'd be all over Lascelles first and then Dawson as backup.

I would have thought so. However, I just checked in with my brother as we will no doubt rip the piss out of each other all day and he is ABSOLUTELY GUTTED we are going for Dawson.

"One of our best defenders" he lamented.

My Hammer mate says the same. Dawson and Rice are the only players to turn up this season he reckons.

I doubt anyone would argue with that premise, just that the hope would be for better and in an ideal world less short term as he's 33 at the end of the season. Although I appreciate that the ideal need for him to be home grown narrows the field

I don't hate Dawson coming here, just was hoping for someone a bit better, a bit younger, with similar experience.
#shootforthestars.

I think we're desperate for a more experienced head at CB so I think it would be decent business.

Agree with Johnny - we need a significant upgrade in the summer but to help keep us up, it's a sensible option.

Low bars and that
Knows the league, is English, could drop straight in, cheap.

Allows us the reassess the situation in the summer where we can keep him as 3rd choice and he’d be happy with that.

Alternatively you go for Felipe who ticks less of those boxes, hasn’t played for months and probably isn’t better anyway.

I’d love us to sign some elite CB for £30m but they probably aren’t on the move in January, would have elements of risks/settling if from a foreign country (no one in England is selling us one) and we’re not really in that place in such a crucial position

I've never liked him as a player, all sly elbows and not great on the ball. He's never been quick and at 33 he isn't getting quicker.

I'll back him as and when he comes (as now seems highly likely), I mean we had to do something. Kilman and Collins does not work at the moment and while I like Toti's commitment and enthusiasm, he isn't really suitable to be first choice either. Mosquera is apparently not a consideration at all. We have no-one else thanks to that cunt Lage getting rid of everyone.
