Pep disagrees with you.

I do too but y'know that's a given with you and I.

And my point was he and Guedes aren't in the same class but you've ignored that.
The point I was responding to was Nunes is world class. As I say he might become so if he learns to pass but at the moment if you picked 10 world XIs he wouldn’t be in any of them.

I wish you'd stop putting Guedes and Nunes together, they aren't remotely the same.

Whatever you think of Nunes he is a world class talent and we may have replaced him with a world class talent but we have no idea if Bellegarde is the next Pires or Sansom..
On the last point, I know it's exciting when a new player is signed but I'm slightly confused by the reaction to the Bellegarde signing. I've seen people suggest he'll be an immediate upgrade on Matheus but Strasbourg finished 15th in Ligue 1 last season and Bellegarde's numbers don't look particularly impressive to me.

I hope he'll be great but I've got no idea what to expect and my gut instinct is that £13M is an overpayment.

Fosun have done a tremendous job in lowering this boards expectations with the usual over estimation of the talent of players they've never actually seen play.

No doubting Hobbs has done his best in the last few days given the hospital pass he was given, but it has not been a good window, hopefully it's been good enough to keep us up.

My mistake then Sam.

Not at all, I should have been more specific.

I’m as disappointed as anyone to lose a player of Nunes’ calibre and talent, but in the context of how he has behaved in the past week it’s good riddance for me. Regardless of talent and ceiling I don’t want players here who don’t want to be here. I may be reading too much into how his transfer to us was conducted (and I’m sure someone more well informed can correct me), but the ‘rumour’ he waited out for a bigger club before he joined us never really sat right with me.

He’ll take off at City because they have a world class coach, he’ll be surrounded by world class players, and he wants to be there. We never would have seen that here.

Think this is spot on. We still over estimate the likes of Boubacar tbh, and even though I really rate JG he's sometimes spoken about as if he's been here a couple of years and really bossed the place. Conversely, whenever we're linked with the Dawsons of the world they're all shit.

I'm glad we at least have some more bodies in but quality-wise it's difficult to assess (Doyle obviously did pretty well a league down), and I still can't believe another window has shut with no striker.

Bellegarde has had a purple patch at the start of the French season this time (all of 3? games) but before that wasn't pulling up trees.

Excited to see them all in action though, especially Gonzalez.

He wasn't even the first choice Strasbourg player.

He could be a late developer and it looks as though he's found a role to be great in like we were starting to do with Nunes.

It's odd we've built a 4-3-3 team for Lop without actually having Lop.

Considering for about 90% of the transfer window we were a complete shit show then there are surprisingly several things to be positive about.

We got very good money for Neves & Nunes and still have what looks like a good midfield. I am excited about Bellegarde and am also pleased that Traore is still here.

If I’m being greedy I would have liked another forward in but I’m not fussed that we missed out on Adams. In a way, it’s good that Fabio will have a chance to show if he actually is up to it or not.

I don’t particularly miss Lop but the jury is still very much out on the manager. At least we have a team that, on paper at least, looks like it should be able to compete.
Your last paragraph is bang on. The manager now has a squad in a lot better shape than a week ago. If he fails, it won’t be because he’s been shafted with the hand he’s been dealt.

Jury’s still out for me, but he comes across well, isn’t dislikeable, so let’s hope the teams performances match

I'm not really understanding how people can say it hasn't been a good window. We sold a player that didn't want to be here for a record fee and we got in some exciting young talent with it and made the squad stronger.

Other than maybe a striker what more can you really ask for with limited funds?

It is up to the head coach to get the best out of his players though, and I do have some reservations about that.

I think you have to factor the way the club has been run during this period and the ensuing instability and lies.

It's a lot better than it could have been with the addition of four new bodies, but how many are starters? 1 at best?

It's OK. I agree it's not shit, but there's a smattering of glee about it (mainly on sm rather than here) that is slightly deluded

Because the window was 3 months not 3 days long

I'm not happy with Fosun or how the club has been run the last few months. Or the seemingly taps off/on finances.

But that has nothing to do with the actual signings from the window and how I'd rate our business. Hobbs did about as good a job as he could have done, barring maybe bringing Doherty back.

I think as well, as excited as I am to sign some good young players, there’s got to be a bedding in period and it’s how long we can afford to do that for bearing in mind we need to pick up results.

As I say, it’s up to GON to get the best out of them as well and my jury is still out on whether he can do that.
