The Incoming Transfers Everywhere Thread: Summer 2023

About £45m does seem rather on the low side. By definition any player City are interested in must be considered pretty special so price should reflect that.

City's business is usually pretty shrewd apart from when it comes to left backs.

Apart from the tweet saying nothing of the sort it certainly does sound like we have accepted.

There must be some sort of agreement with Nunes for him to leave for a set fee so I would imagine that has been or soon will be triggered. Secondly, plenty of us on here would have flipped him for break even after his first season. There was no way he performed as a £40m player for us so we shouldn't be crying crocodile tears should he go just on the basis that he may come good. To put it another way, having watched him for a season how many of us would think it is a good idea to spend £50m on him?
What we can all get upset about is how any fee received will be spent. We needed 3 players before he left and this will add another to the list.

They must know we're desparate for the money and 'anyone and everything' is up for sale.
Well, that's what we've been saying ourselves, isn't it?
Not ‘anyone and everything’ of course… unfortunately.

What did we pay for him in £? I've seen £38-42m?
It was £38m + extras I think that would bring it up to £42m

So as it stands, we are on the verge of getting rid of £85m worth of transfers inside a year. 2 gone and 1 we can't push out of the door quick enough.
Anyone involved in that summer shouldn't be at the club anymore. Scott has gone....just 1 more man from the very top to go.

City were happy to pay £80m for Paqueta and are missing KDB for 3/4 months. We should be holding out for more

(assuming there isn't a clause, which is probanly giving Shi some credit he doesn’t deserve)

After our £35m or piss off stance on Max, got to presume there is a clause in his deal and would go someway to explain to the Liverpool stuff from earlier in the year.

When we signed him, Liverpool and City had both been in touch with Sporting and a deadline was given to get the deal sorted. That was missed and all of a sudden he was coming to us. A Jorge special, got funds into Sporting and used us as a holding club for 12 months.

City don't pay Chelsea style fees
They were close to paying £80m for Paquetá. They’re about to spend £60m on Doku.

If we don’t push the fee up we’re absolute jokers.

In his first two games of the season, Nunes has won more duels than any other player in the PL in the opening two games. He’s attempted and completed more take on’s than any other player, he’s 2nd in the league for fouls committed on him and 3rd for number of interceptions.

We can all moan about his “shit passing” etc, but the bloke has a massive ceiling and it looks like we’re gonna have our belly tickled by accepting the first offer that comes in for him.

Can't really argue but we have a shit negotiating position - no one else wants him and we are desperate for money.

You may well be right.

I'm cynical though and don't want to give Shi/Wolves the benefit of the doubt, its just as likely that we are just having our pants pulled down.

Correct me if wrong, but selling Nunes and Collins for negligible profit after only 12 months isn't particularly great for FFP is it?
