Last thing we need is Raúl sitting here on £100K+ p/w not playing because nobody came in for him and he's stuck down the pecking order behind the new £18M Argentinian.

Kalajdzic/Cunha/Silva/Raúl

4 into 2 spots. One drops out we replace him.
No, the last thing we need is another season with non scoring strikers, that's far more costly.

We scored 7 fewer goals last season than under Dave Jones' relegated Wolves!

I can see Elvedi coming in this week once Monchengladbach have signed Wober on loan.

Think we will sign Scott but don’t expect it to happen soon.

I think our first 11 is alright to be honest minus a first choice number 9 (too much to expect from Sasa just yet and Fabio I have no idea what will happen yet).

Sa
Semedo Dawson Kilman Bueno
Sarabia Lemina Nunes Neto
Cunha ST

But we do need better options off the bench, especially as Julen seems very proactive during games
Agree, our first 11 would be fine even without any incomings.
The only real concern for me is the front line/striker. Nothing solid there yet, with outgoings and suspected outgoings we only have Sarabia, Neto, Cunha, Fabio, Hwang and Sasa. On the face of it that's looks OK but we've no idea if Sasa will be fit enough and who knows what's going on with Fabio. Hwang is a squad player at best.

Not sure how we can say there isn’t much flair between Sarabia, Nunes, Cunha and Neto
Sarabia makes good decisions, I like him. Wouldn't say he has flair though?

Neto hasn't looked like the fair player I know you're referring to for a while.

Cunha potentially, yeah. A couple of awesome runs suggest it's there.

Nunes as one of 2 in a CM terrifies me.

Yeah. Agreed. Unfortunately though, we've got a financial commitment to the non scoring strikers that are currently on our books. Now we've sold one of them I'm sure we'll sign a striker.

They all did precious little on the pitch last season, Sarabia and Cunha could hardly get game-time at points. Neto is still nowhere near what he was (with question marks over whether he ever will be, surely), and Nunes certainly has a flair for a misplaced pass, and a mazy run that comes to nothing.

None of them really a shoe in, are they?

I would expect Cunha to start 30+ games, availability permitting, easily.

Oh I think Cunha and Sarabia may well be fine, but that's not really based on anything they've done at Wolves so far

To put it more simply, who's creating and scoring the goals in that first XI?

It just feels like the wrong way around to me.

Changing the subject we have absolutely smashed our wage costs this summer.

Moutinho 100k
Raul 100k
Neves 70k
Adama 40k
Collins 40k?
Coady 40k
Costa 40k

Doc 40k?

Oh it’s not a sure thing - but I think that team in that shape (with a proper striker) can be a well coached team under Julen with attacking potential.

There’s a lot on Nunes starting to take a grip on the midfield but it’s his position and while we got by playing him wide in the second half of the season it’s not what we spent nearly £40m on. Big season for him and his career, he seems confident that he will step up after a season acclimatising and it appears to be the plan for him to play through the middle.

Cunha alongside a good number 9 I think could be very very good I think.

Neto I have my concerns on too, but he’s not been out of his depth just not the sharpness we became used to before the injuries. It sounds like if we sign Scott that is where he will play anyway.

In actual fact what we’ve done this window, minus Neves and probably Collins, is get rid of a lot of deadwood and wage capital. It is harsh to call Jimenez ‘deadwood’ but I don’t think he scored a goal this season.

I don’t see a lot wrong with that. We weren’t going anywhere with them, and apart from Neves we haven’t weakened the starting eleven.

Nunes just needs to stay locked in mentally. His problem is not unlike Semedo for me; just criminally casual at times, and you pay for that at this level.
