The " Honey I'm home and I'm bloody starving , what's for dinner " Thread.

Hats off to you Langers. You could just open a tin of beans and serve your kids them, but you are experimenting, which is good. The fact that you prepare dinner before you go to work and can be bothered to do this , well gud on ya.

I'm a bit undecided, but will probably go with salad cream and vinegar on the chip butty baps, and the fish fingers which be on my plate and not on the bap with the chips so will probably go with a blob of ketchup for them. Or do I put the fingers on the baps with the chips and just go with ketchup and vinegar? I'm not sure.
If it's just chips on the bap then it has to be ketchup. Salad cream for the fish fingers.

I will have to wait until im dishing it up, see what takes me fancy at the time. If I open a tin of mushy peas aswell then that will open up other options!

Not at all, I've used them in the past and I certainly don't think I'm Masterchef-designate. I'm just bemused that someone can get to their mid-30's and have so little experience of and in the kitchen. The mashed potato revelation was a nadir for me I must admit though.

And anyway, Langers didn't say he was using the slow cooker for his casserole it was a lucky guess on my part.

Steady on a bit. I've rarely cooked before - all I'm trying to do is the right thing for my kids as an independent, newly single dad who also works 5 days a week as I adjust to a new lifestyle and a new routine. We can't all be Keith bloody Floyd you know.

Start by drinking loads while you're cooking and you'll be Floydie in a flash

Oh I dont know pav, it was rather scrummy, and first proper meal ive been able to taste in a week :)

Tailgate at the Chattanooga FC Amateur championship final versus the Michigan Bucks so lots of burgers, hot dogs and a nice slab of venison! :)
 
Just been out to the Punch Bowl just outside Bridgnorth for my Mums 88th birthday.

The carvery was superb.

Five adults, main meal, drinks and pudding....£52. What a bargain.

The place was great, the staff were so friendly, my Mum had a great time.

What a great day.
