The " Honey I'm home and I'm bloody starving , what's for dinner " Thread.

I made hunters chicken tonight, including homemade BBQ sauce and guilt free chips ( I'm trying to exercise a bit of healthy eating to counter act the donuts I know he's been scoffing at work). I have not seen Paddy wolf food down that fast in ages. Might actually venture into the kitchen a bit more. Feeling chuffed.

Sounds nice. I'm not keen on baking as in cakes, cookies, and stuff, but do really enjoy knocking up a meal and seeing people enjoying it. Makes it all worthwhile.

For the last 5-6 weeks my diet has been appalling. I've said no to nothing, been drinking too much, gone mental on chocolate (easter, fuck you) and have had far too much fast food. As a result I've put on 7kg in 6 weeks!

Now punishing myself with 5:2 for three weeks, before just getting back to being sensible about things once I've shifted the damage.

600 calories a day for 5 days, with no meal containing more than a combined 20g of fat or sugar per 100g. Then sensible weekends.

Mmm, lettuce :/

Don't you just hate sensible weekends Del :( . Good luck with the 600 calories a day, ive done that and its not pleasant, especially as you know you can't have ' bad ' things, it makes you crave them even more I found.

Tonight ive got fish chips mushy peas! :)

So you could theoretically have something that is nearly one-fifth sugar then? Madness. Anyway, if you didn't fuck around with fancy burger buns you might not be in such a parlous state, you brioche-munching bloater.

Going to make a nice paella tonight. Looking forward to having a nose around the fresh fish counter to see what I can bung in.

I've got home made tikka masala tonight. The Mrs is even attempting some home made naan bread. Looking forward to it.

Going to order a slow cooker at some point this week. Quite looking forward to expanding my currently very limited repertoire. Surprised how cheap they are actually - I can get one that'll do a perfectly good job for under £30.

That's what most people are saying. Apparently, even an 'inexperienced' cook like myself will be able to achieve something vaguely edible in it.

Yep, just bung in the ingredients, make sure you have enough liquid/sauce/gravy in, put the top on and leave for 8 hours. Cook something for the new Mrs Langers, she'll be well impressed, stick some candles on the table, she'll think you've been slaving away in the kitchen for hours :) .Never had a bad meal from mine yet.

I was thinking of doing something like that - she's expecting a Pot Noodle and a bowl of strawberry jelly. Or me me to say 'fuck it - I'll phone up the Dilshad'.

Try an Indian goat curry done in it. Bloody lovely.

It's the easiest cooking process in the world, bar prep you don't have to do anything or even be there while it's cooking. Buy some decent stuff (don't scrimp on ingredients), half an hour tops to chop everything and sort your stock out, end of involvement until you dish it up.

We got a slow cooker a few years ago for Christmas. Must have used it 3 times maximum. Just can't can't seem to get the right vibe going with it. Not sure why really.

Its lovely when you come home after putting it on in the morning, you open the door to wonderful aromas and a dinner ready to serve up.

Chicken or Lamb Tagine in the slow cooker is delicious. Alternatively for a small fee I will send Will round to show you how to cook Paella. He made it tonight and it is delicious!!
