The " Honey I'm home and I'm bloody starving , what's for dinner " Thread.

I've just been told that the wife can't give me a lift home tonight as she is firing up the BBQ so it looks like I've got burgers & hot dogs for dinner tonight! Usually the BBQ is my territory but as I'm at work then she is in charge of lighting it today, although I will have to take over and randomly prod the charcoal (not a euphemism) when I get home.

A woman, lighting a BBQ?! Now I've seen everything....

Who'll prepare the salad that no one will eat???

It's going to be, at best, 15 degrees by teatime tonight :icon_lol:

I bet there are people loping about in shorts today as well, got to love British people's instant reaction to the slightest hint of a bit of sun.

What can I say? We're an alternative family (plus, it means we get to eat an hour earlier as it'll be ready by the time I get home).

Doesn't have to be hot to have a BBQ, pleasant & dry is good enough for me. Plus it gets the kids outside in the garden. We're only having one because our neighbour did yesterday and the wife's copying! I won't be wearing shorts though.

My dad's one of these people that gets carried away with the slightest bit of sun. I bet he's sitting in the garden with his top off as we speak!

There is alternative and then there is the downright scandalous

This is something that winds me up more than it should. People at work who'll sit on the park bench we have outside the canteen "because the sun's out". Yeah go and sit in it and increase your risk of skin cancer just for the sake of it.

There's also a delivery driver who wears shorts until November and then puts them on again in February, or the first nice day we have after January.

It just winds me up! I never have understood people's desire to go and sit in it just because it's sunny. Fair enough if you're out doing something and you have a reason to be outside.

Whilst I am just a mere woman, and even though I am more than capable of lighting the bbq and even manage to cook my eats to perfection, I often tend to leave this to a male to do, whilst I prepare the more complicated side dishes :). I mean, what is really difficult about tossing a sausage ? Also, it doesnt have to be hot to have a bbq. We leave ours covered outside all of the year and do steaks on it in all weathers. Just beccause I have a bbq say in Nov doesnt mean to say I have to actually sit out to eat the bbq! Or maybe this is just a Yank custom I have adopted :(

Should I just hand in my manhood now? At least it'll save me from my doctor's appointment about getting the snip!

There's nothing wrong with letting one's wife light the bbq. Just make sure the purse she keeps your balls in is away from naked flame.

Maybe those people on the park bench just want to get out from the workplace for half an hour, get some fresh air, and take the opportunity when they can cos tomorrow it could well be pissing down ...again.

I would really wind you up then Bear! I will be the first to admit it, I love the sun.
