The " Honey I'm home and I'm bloody starving , what's for dinner " Thread.

Crab Risotto, which could very well be bloody lovely or a complete disaster ( risotto is a bit like cooking poached eggs for me, most of the time it don't end well )

Anyone any good at making home made soups?

I'm going to have a dabble at making my own tomato soup, and probably a carrot and leek soup with my home grown produce. Just wondered if anyone has any hints, tips or suggestions for making their soups lovely?

I use this as my stock base

Then it's just a case of frying off the ingredients well and letting the stock do its job.

My dad gave me a load of produce from his garden, so I got the kids to help me make a 'Grandad's Garden Soup'. Piece of piss - chuck a ton of fresh veg in a pan, add some vegetable stock and a few herbs/spices, use a stick blender to make it nice and smooth and serve with bread.

I think we had green beans, spinach, carrots, potatoes and I threw in some turmeric, garlic, ginger, seasoning and a chopped onion. Tasted lush.

I should have done - I might try that soon, a nice spicy soup!

Making a curried swede, parnsip and carrot soup tonight for dinner and then leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

Sounds nice, Nando!

I find it's a good way to get rid of leftovers sometimes. Bung it all in a pan and blitz the fuck out of it once it's simmered for a bit.

So you curried Fred and then boiled him with parnsips and carrots............animal

I couldn't live without soup. Oxtail with a nice slice of rye bread... Oooft.

I'd always rather have solid food I guess.

Gazpacho in the summer is unreal. So good.
