The " Honey I'm home and I'm bloody starving , what's for dinner " Thread.

Have you never had potato and bacon salad. Cold, Potatoes, bacon, onion, tossed in mayo, and chives?

What the fucks wrong with you people.

:icon_lol: No I don't. If you have never tried bacon covered in chocolate then you really should. The salty and the sweet goes together perfectly.

I'm going to go with my gut instinct here and decline. In the same way that if I locked Deutsch in a room with Dean Saunders, I wouldn't be confident of a positive outcome. For El Deano, that is.

To be fair to PPB, bacon does go well with sweet things. Hummingbird Bakery (whose cakes are amazing) do a peanut butter chocolate banana bacon pie in one of their cookbooks and if they say it's good then I tend to believe them.

As for bacon and cucumber with salad cream. I wouldn't necessarily have it on a sandwich, but on a salad with chopped cucumber and crispy bacon bits drizzled with salad cream, its lovely.

a pal here once made roast wild boar with a chocolate sauce, to die for, i love sweet and savoury dishes.

Maple glazed bacon is divine so I could kinda see chocolate working...

I don't think there'll ever be a day when I'm sat down with a bacon sandwich and I think "you know what this needs? Some cucumber and a lathering of salad cream".

Similarly I can't see me thinking, "You know what? This nice rasher of back bacon is crying out for a smothering of Bourneville".

Half of you just make your mind up that you aren't going to like something before its even gone in ya mouths.

Anyway, tonight it's beans on toast.

It's more why would I ruin a perfectly good foodstuff with an accompaniment that it neither needs and nor does it suit.

^ditto^.

For starters I shall be having spiced Kofta meatballs followed by Beef Bourguinon

Says you. How do you know bacon isn't suited to chocolate as I doubt you have tried it. I'm bringing you a bag over an all.

Ah, I didn't say anything about chocolate, did I. I said why would I ever want to be lamping salad cream (condiment of the devil in the first place) and cucumber (wtf) on a bacon sandwich. That's pure mental. There are reasons why that concoction does not appear on many breakfast menus.

I haven't tried gravy over ice cream either but I'm pretty sure it doesn't work.

You're thinking about it the wrong way Dan.

Bacon makes everything better. Even a cucumber and salad cream sandwich...
