The " Honey I'm home and I'm bloody starving , what's for dinner " Thread.

I knew I'd get those reactions to my steak!!

For the record I like mine cooked like PPBs. Rare to medium rare. Pink in the middle but not bloody.

The gravy is mainly for the chips really. The addition of a bit of oxo sprinkled over really peps it up. If you've not tried it you haven't lived.

But arent the bits 'gritty' if just sprinkled?

No, they melt into the gravy. You get small blobs of dark brown. The intense flavour of them is really nice.

I know it sounds weird but it's lovely.

Fucking hell. After reading this thread I'd gone out and bought a nice steak Bánh mì. I'm not hungry any more.

Especially if it's rare. After PPB's comment I now have problems with raw liver.

ha ha no worries, just close your eyes and let your imagination run riot.

I always cook liver , pink in the middle, that way you ensure it's not as tough as boot leather, and get the real taste of liver.

I wish I could get on with offal, but I just can't. Liver is a no-no to me, and kidneys only in a great steak and kidney pie. I really should make the effort to try and change my tastebuds, maybe with devilled kidneys or something like that, but I can't imagine a plate of liver onions and bacon ever appealling.

I love haggis & black pudding but that's the only offal I'll eat.

Although I had venison bone marrow a few months ago and loved it.

I love liver, onion and bacon casserole. It always makes me think of cold Winter evenings as this is the perfect meal to have then. Served with creamy mash, its delicious(as long as you get the timing right)

Not keen on haggis, don't like bone marrow, and brawn and tongue are just awful.

Chicken, Tomato & basil sauce, mash, peas.
Followed by cheesecake.

I have my steak medium rare. People who have their steak well done shouldn't be allowed to eat it IMO. What's the point?

We had steak as our wedding meal and it was cooked medium rare as standard although some moaned about it being pink and sent it back to be cooked more. Heathens.

Just broke out the sandwich maker for the first time in yonks; toasted cheese and chili flake sandwiches. Glorious.

The GF is having a hellish week and work so I'm cooking her a meal tonight so she can relax for a few hours.

Going for chicken and apples cooked with bacon in cider with some greens and dauphinoise potatoes.

And leftover cider for liquid refreshment.

Then we're going to decide on where to go on holiday in October or November.
